You forgot the biggest regret of them all regarding giving up on youth players way too soon. Andrea Pirlo is the one that still burns very painfully...

I don't mind trading kids if its for a meaningful upgrade. But trading carboni for a scrub like Gudmundsson who has one decent season is just crazy.
to be fair, at some point we draw the line - 23 years ago and are any of the people who made that decision still at Inter?

I don't mind sales w/buyback clauses like we have with Fabbian. Doubly so if the buyback clause is at a fixed and reasonable price. I think buying clubs have more reason to develop the player if he's actually "their" player and not just another club's player on loan. To that extent, if we did exactly that with Carboni, I don't think I'd have any problems with that.

Couldn't care less to use him as a Gudmundsson makeweight though, that guy isn't moving any needles for me .

btw Gudmundsson is only available if one of Toro Martinez, Thuram, Arnautovic, Correa, and Taremi would be gone.

Does it matter if the people change when same philosophy is being followed and same mistake is being seriously considered...

Problem is carboni is already a €30 mil rated player. So who is going to agree to a buyback price that Inter can realistically pay.

I agree in principle with you but I just don't see it working regarding carboni.

as for biraghi case, its not that he is some big star, but we lost a ton of money trying to replace him and all we got was same or worse quality ones

but what mistakes? like, seriously? The only big regrets you could argue in the last 20 years are Coutinho and Bonucci?

You think Biraghi === Dimarco?

Of all the kids exchanged I think Bonucci is the only regret?
Bonucci wasnt really a kid though, he was already 22 and hadnt really showed that many signs of being something out of the ordinary. Many people were more sad about losing Acquafresca than Bonucci in that deal...

Bonucci surprised everyone with his breakthrough at Bari the following season, ironically partnering Ranocchia who turned out to be utter trash with Inter.

The deal would be something like 20m to Inter and buyback for 30m etc. Because Carboni is not a 30m player right now, not even 20m player.

With Carboni the ideal case would be to dry loan him like Juve did with Soule. There's enough talent already that clubs are willing to use such a player without wanting some buyback option thing included to benefit developing the player.

Carboni is a special case due to his price. It doesn't matter with or without a buyback clause. Because we don't save the cash-in in our pocket; but burning it immediately into Gudmunsson or whoever is replacing Dumfries.

Then next season we could never have 30m pure cash to trigger, no matter how well the kid develops.

if he's worth the money, we'll bring him back. the problem as cafe says isnt valuation, its utilisation in our formation

You do know buyback clause must be one-time triggerred and no player-inflated adding, right? When was the last time we spent once over 30m?

Correa the year before Pavard?
Hakimi?

We have shown a happiness to splash the cash when we want to. Even Frattesi was 33m....

We've got more than enough transfers over 30m to show we're hpapy to do it... if it was 50 or 60 its a different convo.

At the end of the day, if he's worth more than 30m, and we have a buy-back on him for 30m, we'll exercise it, even if its just to sell him on again../

Selling a potential star to fund a move for a 4th striker is one of the most hilarious moves and it’s exactly what’s going to happen. Unless something happens with that case in Gudmunssons home country over the next few weeks you can bet your ass our management will sprint to the airport to ship Carboni off.

I’d throw him into the mix immediately next year. Experiment with him in the midfield or in the front who cares. If he can’t crack the rotation enough loan him in January after 6 months. We cannot sell a 19 year old who just made the Argentinian national team and plays top flight football already. Teams change formation every few years anyways to evolve. Say he’s loaned out to a mid table team next year and lights it up his price doubles. Even if he doesn’t play well he’s still going to be worth 20-25 million.

A lot of your numbers are simply not true...
Pedri was 23m.
Correa we must pay over three years. Same for Frattesi.
We could not pay Hakimi either. But only 10m loan fee then the rest was covered by the sold of himself.

There is the major difference between transfer value and buyout clause. You can't make deferred payment with buyback clause. We never be that rich to spend 30m+ at once, except the year we reached the CL final.
