You are right. I guess the frustration is to see players like Young and Moses joining, when we were expecting better wingback(s). Our history with average WBs/FBs doesn't inspire too much optimism either.

But like you said, its a cheap loan deal for Moses (and a cheap transfer for Young) which would be useful if they end up as short term solutions until we have money to spend in the summer to get quality wing backs.

That's the point.

I also beg to differ he didnt have great season under Conte. He didgreat - both in attack and defense. Was integral part of his EPL title winning team, and even in the following season he wasnt bad at all.
I can agree that apart from that season (and a half) he has been, more or less, crap. Biggest issue imo is that we still dont have world class wing backs and he is too injury prone lately. i hope medical test are done right.

Meunier is also available. Just give them the money and be done with it. Or just wait until summer, there's no urgency for a right wing back. But we created a 35m mess out of nowhere.

so he can`t be worse than what we have now...if he can figure it out when try to pass the oponent and when to just pass I`ll be happy...

Sorry if I'm stupid, but as a player dont you need to run, close down the space so the opponents doesnt run free and open the space for the players in front to make a difference? What could you ask more, maybe throw in a cross like Candreva to kill the birds. You couldnt expect from a wingback to make a 80meters through pass to Lula. For that you need Eriksen.

He wants physical players, doubt Odriozola can offer that like Moses. Tbf Moses is getting too much shit here, he had very good season under Conte and wing back role was perfect for him.He was good dribbler but didn't have good enough end product to play in attack but his work rate was good. So Conte turned him into wingback which negated his weakness and highlighted his strengths.

Not the best possible player for the position but he is good option if he plays like he did from 2016-2018 under Conte.

i'm willing to give time to moses and conte to prove it wasn't a terrible choice. clearly, conte wll have to take responsibility for it.

but to some extent, there needs to be some kind on understanding. i mean, marotta tells him there's not much money, so he chooses wingbacks he knows and that we can get for next to nothing.

if anything, i would like to understand how it is possible that we buy lazaro for 22 mil, only to sell him (and not even outright sell him, just for 2 mil with option to buy at 20) 6 months later.

it was an important investment and honestly, i see good potential in the guy. he was our ONLY wingback capable of beating his man. is he tactically inept? ok, but for 9 mil a season, dear conte, can't you take the time to try and teach him of to defend?

I see your point but let`s not go that far, he hasn`t even signed yet. Let us continue to live under the illusion that this transfer is just a cheap, quick-fix, just like Young.

Plus, like it or not, I think Conte will play his cards carefully this time and behave like a role model - he does not want to live abroad and this greatly limits his choices as a coach. As long as Beppe is here, he will stay for a long time, taking home more than double Allegri was earning
