Sneider (and Milito) got a raise after 2011. So did Lucio and Zanetti. Sneijder's pay jump was quite large as well, 50% rise.

2011-12 and 2012-13 was when shit hit the fan. In every sense.

I can understand that guys like Sneijder and Maicon got a pay raise after 2010 ... But Cordoba?! And Milito and Cambiasso 2013?

Cordoba's contract was probably incremental. He did not sign a contract in 2011 or 2012, it was his final year of his existing contract. With Cambiasso and Milito I don't remember the deal but it seems like a jump in pay for the final year. Sometimes it's the reverse and other times it's just an annual rise or drop, which is more common.

edit: Cambiasso signed a 5 year deal in 2009, so it was just a final year hike. Milito extended to a 4 year deal right after the Tripleta. So another last year hike here.

Mazzarri was a cunt and Jonathan was all kinds of garbage. I get that Jonathan was the "more attacking wing back" better suited to Mazzarri's "tactics". I get that Zanetti was an inherently cautious player and played safe 90% of the time. But in the 10% of the time he went forward, his attacking contribution was far better than Jonathan who, despite being attacking 90% of the time, was fucking garbage 100% of the time. I won't even talk about the gulf of quality between their defensive capabilities. Fuck Mazzarri.
