Just got my facility management diploma so I can finally enroll onto a school that will actually teach me something useful. Decided to pursue a bachelor degree in International Business. The program is gonna be fully English so I can forget the ugly language known as Dutch

Damn. Congrats! After the first week of your course, you'll be more qualified to run Inter than Suning!

I hate going to school because I’m lazy so gave up on tha front. Have a stable 9-5 job getting paid barely above the minimum wage but since I don’t really have to pay rent and no one else to take care of it’s fine for now.

On one hand, my kind of rampant idealism might hold me back, but I realized years ago, and realize just about every time I have a free weekend that I spend watching football or baseball or whatever the fuck, that being indoors, sitting on a computer, during the middle of the day is not my kind of preferred lifestyle at all (and I live in Florida; for those who don't know, it gets hotter than Satan's kitchen during the Summer here so "just do shit on the computer outside" is not an option for several months out of the year). I can't do a 9-5 office job and keep my sanity at the same time.

I literally just put in my two weeks' notice at the place I've worked at for six years now because I'm moving to Orlando, FL to help my brother out for the next, I dunno, 10 months or so. I suspect the biggest reason I stayed at a low-paying job that I'm way over-qualified for is because it was at least a job that kept my active and on my feet for hours a day. Several parts of the job aren't fun, absolutely, and it's my own crippling lack of self-ambition that has kept me from progressing more than anything else, but I can at least appreciate that I am constantly moving and, you know, getting some kind of exercise on the job. Office life would just drain all the life right out of me.

So, clearly, I need some kind of job that keeps me on my feet. I'm restless in that way.

I'm guessing you didn't catch that chicken.

Two days ago I finally managed to turn in my Master's Thesis in History after (academically, certainly) the worst year of my life.

It was weird - on one hand, because of the lockdowns you had nothing else to do or anyone to see, but on the other, there was just no motivation what so ever. What's the point on writing some sixty pages-bullshit only three people will only ever read and never think about after that, when life is literally put on hold?
So, naturally, being the slug that I am, skipped the first two tries completely.
It'm certainly elated being done with it (assuming I pass, which, if I don't, I'm out) but most of it was uninteresting to me and I'll never fomally use the education anyway - and, seeing what's happening to the entirety of the work force under Covid right now, I'm not sure it'd really make a difference.

Just wanted to share with you all that I'm thrilled about never having to go to school again, and thrilled on a personal note to got 2020 over and done with.

Congrats. But man, I'm definitely missing history lectures these days. I took a lot of courses on Nazi Germany, Soviet/Cold War which are currently quite relevant. Enjoy the break.

So, I got a 10, which amounts to B and B+ in the European and American grading scales respectively, and thus, I'm done with University. The final grade never really mattered much to me, but it's still at least a tiny bit gratifying, ending on somewhat of a high note.

Here's to being an adult (and at least a year of unemployment), I guess.

When I last wrote in this thread, i was still a student

Im working in telco industry for 8 years now. I was first in CRM unit developer, then became senior dev, then became team lead of CRM team.

After 7 years, in January I changed team, well the whole IT model of deutche telecom changed from domain based teams to modern IT model. Im business analyst expert now, in charge with digitalization of the company, as well as developing some internal products and processes.
Of course, still have the "baggage" of being developer and team lead in CRM team, so I still have to cover some stuff from my old job. Mainly giving advices and ideas, but happened a month ago that no one was able to develop some scripts, and I had to do it..
