I think we have done better in recent years, minus Coutinho.

Still a laughable list, my god

I can't ever really feel bad about getting rid of Bonucci. I'd rather have the treble.

I saw the first name on that list and immediately thought 'what a crock of shit'. Matthias Sammer forced the sale after half a season, he wanted to leave. He didn't enjoy life in Italy.

Sometimes sales are not made because of tactical reasons, talent or even economical.

Roberto Carlos may very well have stuck around if it hadn't have been for a fall out with a dumb ass manager !

This list shows how poor our management has been among the years. The player i regret selling the most is Pirlo. The guy was an Interista, loved playing for the team and there's a chance he would stay at Inter for the rest of his career. It's a pity we didn't have a decent coach to use him properly back then. I don't think Carlos and Bergkamp would stick around for long. On the other hand, Bonucci preferred an Inter move over a Juventus one. But Branca chose to go for Ranocchia. :palm: He would definitely stick around. Not sure about the rest.

the problem is not when you make mistakes, but when you don't learn from them. even an atrocious mistake like selling r. carlos (just to name one) could be forgiven if we had learned our lesson. but moratti never learned it. hopefully, Suning will be smarter.

Show me a club that doesn't have regret-sales. All clubs have those but I think none will come close to ManU-Pogba

ManUtd didn't sell Pogba, funny how such a simple fact is missed by so many.

But letting him go for free was even worse. Then it became full on stupid when they brought him back for an absurd amount of money.

You can't hold a gun to his head and make him stay. How can club stop players not wanting to extend contract and leave on free transfer?

You can offer only 3 year contract to younger players or some kind of rule is there. We signed him when he was 16 and when he was making first team bench and match day squads but not getting mins he wanted to leave. Nothing wrong with that as it takes balls to leave big club like ManUtd and he took the risk. It worked out well for him.

Why is it stupid to sign a player like Pogba? If he fulfills his potential and plays at his best then 89 Million won't be a big investment. When you see players like Stones sold for 50 Million then I don't have problem with signing Pogba for 89 million. The prices for young players will only increase and in few years this investment won't look absurd at all.

SAF didn't think he was ready so he left. Jose wanted him, Pogba wanted to come back and we paid the price. Rather pay the money to sign our player back than watch them shining for other team. Very costly but ManUtd are loaded.

But you did put him in a situation where he couldn't, for his own good, stay

What situation was that? He was 18 when he wasn't getting first team chances. He thought he should be playing even more first team games so he left when he was 19. Worked out well for him, so good for him.

Doesn't even matter really. People just jealous that you got the money back before the season began

Example:
Bring Zlatan Ibrahimovic on board for free, pay him a ridiculous amount of money for the pleasure of his company, watch it all return in shirts sales 25 times over.

So Manchester United not only have one of the world's finest strikers on their cards, they have a money-making PR dream and they have solid justification for breaking the world record transfer fee on a player they already had on their books only four years ago.

£76m of real money. In one week.

Example:

What you said is partially correct. We won't make much money from shirt sales but make lot of money from image rights.

Pogba, adidas , ManUtd is a marketing dream.

TBH Monster, idk why you still defend it. At the end of the day, Man U lost him. Doesn't matter how. But it's like literally the only ONE that got away. Just live with the fact that people are gonna say sold, but it doesn't change the fact that Man U had him, and could've kept him, but messed up somewhere along the line and he left.

We have like 50 of those scenarios.

That list is very embarrassing to look at jeez.

I'm not defending it, just pointing out and making corrections. Its like blaming Barca for losing Fabregas, Pique, Bellerin, Alba. Sometimes clubs can't do much.

sure, but for peanuts... 400k + 15% of a future sale from samp to another club. We bought him for around 15-17 mln euros (there were some bonus included, so i can't tell exactly), that makes it less than 3 mln euros in total fro barcelona.
