I haven't posted about wrestling for a while so (after a couple of tasty beverages) I thought I'd talk about this AEW rally they had today, and the major angle on the show.

Looks like this Jericho-Omega II storyline might be a Jericho "I'm the star" ego-based story. Puts the "Change the Universe" line from Jericho at the first rally in perspective, since Omega and the Golden Elite's line was "Change the World". Also fits the newly-crowned McMahon hierarchy of everything 'Universal' being greater than anything 'World' (since Jericho is a WWE fella).

As a result, the angle does not deserve the overly critical concerns about Kayfabe (after Jericho and Omega did a podcast, cruise, etc after their Wrestle Kingdom match). Also, those who listen to "Killing the Town" would've heard Don Callis tell the stories of Jericho being a nice bloke but turning into an animal once something pissed him off.

All in all, I like it because it makes sense. It should be a good year of wrestling stories. The rest of the year looks like NXT, NJPW and AEW are the ones to watch. Looking forward to the Okada-Jay White-Tanahashi and Ciampa-Gargano stories playing out throughout the year. Hopefully Omega does a deal with NJPW and does a run of good matches at the G1.

I found AEW's unveiling in Jacksonville to be hilarious, literally across the street from where Smackdown Live was happening. heard WWE people didn't allow AEW shirts inside that night.

I'm starting to enjoy the Kevin Kelly and Rocky Romero commentary partnership on NJPW. Both seem very invested in current story-lines and Rocky adds some depth, as since he's still around the roster behind the scenes day-to-day, he incorporates real things that happened that day of the tour into the story-line.

On a story-line front, Ospreay looks like he'll be in the Omega position in a year or so and Okada's resurgence continues.

It was pretty fucked up, however watching Travis Browne punch the guys lights out afterwards was a joy to behold.

Loved it. The main event matches were excellent. A lot of different styles on display, and the different styles will probably be what we get out of the company on the regular.

Ospreay is on a hell of a run.

Picking an Ospreay-Naito final in the G1, with Naito going over.

Ibushi will have his time but they haven't told the story yet.

WWE bringing in Cain for a big match against Lesnar - and I say this with full knowledge that Cain's work in AAA has been impressive for someone so new to the sport and this match will surprise people - sheds light on their biggest problem at the moment.

They do not create stars.

I tured into Smackdown after hearing that the "Draft" was absolutely farcical, so I had to watch it.

And then I saw Kofi, straight off losing the title he won at WrestleMania.

Imagine Austin losing the title and then turning up next week throwing pancakes around.

No, Austin turns up wondering why the fuck he lost, might question himself, then beats up a couple of condescending, no good, Opal card flagging flogs to justify why he turned up in the first place because he's pissed off.

And they wonder why they're losing viewers.

It’s brutal how much they have to travel and basically are acting every day of the year.

On a side note my youngest niece for some reason is interested in wrestling. We started watching a Becky Lynch fight. She is sexy and looks like a good wrestler. The blond chick she was fighting who don’t know if she suppose to be an evil Barbie couldn’t fight for shit. She was just scratching and slapping the ginger. It’s like wtf! Felt like the video of the 3 Japanese national team players vs 100 Japanese 10 year olds in soccer.

Cracker promo from Cody Rhodes. One of the refreshing things about AEW is it is making me want to watch people cut promos again.

With the Tokyo Dome show now being over two nights next year, they've still managed to stack two nights in a row. I don't know how Gedo does it.

Coming out of Wrestle Kingdom last year and into this year's G1, I didn't expect it to be a "Winner Takes All" stipulation for the World and IC titles, and assumed it'd simply be Naito winning the G1 and facing Okada. However, this does give the two nights a hook. Gedo does it again. I expect Ibushi goes over Okada on night one, and Naito beats Ibushi on night two to take it home. The way Gedo books, that makes a whole heap of sense (although, who knows).

That crowd has been waiting for Naito to win for years. It needs to happen.

Since it's Rumble time, I'd like to throw some predictions out there, even though i haven't watched for at least 2 years.

Rumble: Reigns
Brock: Eliminated by Cain (should be McIntyre)
Most Eliminations: Keith Lee
Wyatt retains
Women's Rumble: Baszler
Rousey: Eliminated by Baszler
Becky retains.

No idea what the rest of the matches are.

In an ideal world they should be going to a Bryan-Reigns and Becky-Baszler match. Bryan is still the man in that company. If he ever left, I think he'd actually suit NJPW more than AEW.

Speaking of NJPW, the Dome Shows were and New Year Dash show was great. Match of the weekend for me was Okada-Ibushi, hands down. Brutal storytelling.

Althoug he lost, they've told the story with Ibushi where he'll go balls-to-the-wall mental and break rules, etc. Well, it happened here and will happe again.. Okada goes on to be finally beaten by Naito for the Double Dash, which was perhaps the second/third best match of the year by that point. Then. Kenta, that scumbag, that absolute clown, destroys Naito's celebration. Crowd should've chanted "Fuckhead". It was a fantastic angle.

Honourable mention for the Ospreay-Hiromu match
