Based on recent rumours.
It does looks like another downgrade. Europa League here we come.

Dzeko and Barella may already cost us 50m euro. Llorente :palm:. No wonder Lukaku remains the top target. SMS would be a good addition to the midfield. However both may cost up to 140m euro, doesn't sound like realistic if we make a move like that, unless it would involve a smart deal like loan with option or obligation, plus player exchange.
Center midfield certainly needs an upgrade. Even if Gags can rediscover his old good form we need more backup.

Icardi Nainggolan are gone. Joao Mario and Borja are most likely gone as well.
Perisic as left wing back still a mystery although his work rate is undoubtedly suitable for that wing back role.
Miranda states he want to stay, so Bastoni as the only left footed center back may got chance for preseason then may loaned out if Miranda remains.

In the end I also expect to somehow get Barella and Lukaku (and Dzeko), but to add another MF with the price tag of SMS, no way.

And honestly every line-up with Vecino as a starter not that only looks bad, it is bad.

A three man defence that is composed by players never featured in a 3 man defence is better than the defence we had in the last 2 years?

De Vrij never played in a 3-man defence before? His entire last season at Lazio must have been a mirage....

Godin has also played in the 3-man defence sparingly with Uruguay, so it is definitely not something that would be completely foreign to him.

Well, sure, on paper De Vrij was part of a back 3 line, but if you remember that team Marusic was mostly an aggressive right back and Lulic was mostly a roaming wingback, not sticking to his line, whilst Radu had to cover more of the left flank. And whenever Wallace was starting it was mostly a 5 man defence rather than a 3 man defence, which tactically is a whole different animal.

Haven't heard much about Lukaku recently, honestly would prefer a more creative player up there. Feel like with Lautaro and Lukaku there isn't enough creativity.

It isn't and it won't be and I think all of us know that.

I think if you mine the data from FIF then the result would be an average boring Inter, just like the one above. Every player we're linked with, or have signed as an upgrade, is met with opposition that perceives them as too old, too young, too average, overvalued/undervalued.

It’s probably impossible to find a player where everyone would agree they are happy with him.

That’s why we are human and not ants, pretty much our nature to form distinct opinions.

Anyway, congratulations on your great scientific discovery.

It shouldn't be science. Marotta just needs to print out a list of players he likes from Transfermarkt, with pictures, market value, and strengths/weaknesses. Should be bullet proof during negotiations.

That's not the way Conte roles. He likes to have one physical striker who does the dirty work next to a more agile, pacey supporting striker. Pelle and Giroud being the two most recent examples.

and is also hard to get "top players". I feel like we don't want to spend that much on one player + top players would prefer to go someone else before joining Inter. (for now) Like Barca, Real, Bayern, Juve, Liverpool...it's not easy. I try to think that it's still possible but it isn't.

I think it’s important we get another creative goal scoring threat in midfield. Even though SMS isn’t exactly what I would call a creative player I think he would go a long way towards helping us in that aspect. I would also happily take Ceballos if Milan can’t get the deal done.

I actually don’t think that front line lacks that much in terms of creativity, both are mobile and can dribble. They can draw defenders out into the channels (Lukaku especially) and make room for runners in the box or their strike partner. With Conte you also have to remember a lot of his attacking moves are preplanned and rehearsed. He doesn’t really on individuals to create as much.

With Barella, do you think we can turn Brozo into may be a new Sneijder, a goal scoring threat? His curling goals are still everywhere in my head.
