Minimum we could do to even start the season is sell Mario, Borja and Icardi and buy a striker + midfielder I think.

Of course that means having Dalbert as first/second choice LWB as Conte isn't happy with Perisic there and we're waiting to see Asamoah.

One striker signing only would mean [New striker] + Lautaro as starters and Perisic + Politano as backup and maybe Esposito?
Midfield we haven't really been linked with anyone other than a couple rougue reports about SMS and Rakitic(who has stated multiple times he doesn't want to leave).

Overall the situation is looking pretty worrying.

What's wrong with Mazzarri? He just never had a very good team.

His results surely beat those of Conte with similar teams apart from the Inter banter era vs the Juventus that was on the rise for non-sporting reasons (new stadium + financial turmoil of rivals being very crucial)

Don't recall Mazzarri at Napoli and Reggina being very defensive to be honest.

Yep, technically we might replace the 5 last season starters there (Icardi - Perisic - Nainggolan - Politano - Vecino) with a new physical striker, probably Dzeko then Lautaro, Sensi, Barella & Godin.

On paper it doesn't seems to convincing, however judging from the recent friendlies, there's an improvements already, whether from team mentality or fitness.
From the gameplays, i think there's more variety on creating chance and attacking movements, although unlike last year where we had the most ball possession, this 352 might not to emphasize on that as we might going with long balls from regista or center back playmaker, most likely Brozo and De Vrij. At the back, 3 goals conceded from ICC are came from set-pieces, it may not tell a lot but to early to judge the defensive department.

Conte surely need concrete result to convince us. At this stage, in my opinion, his 352 certainly need a physical striker or striker that can create space and scoring goals. Dzeko for 20m euro with serie A experience, i'd say just get him for Conte.
