So after a lot of wild speculation we ended up with this.

Starting lineup*:

Handanovic; Skriniar, De Vrij, Bastoni; Brozovic; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Gosens; Lukaku, Lautaro

Bench:

Onana; D'Ambrosio, Acerbi, Dimarco; Asllani; Bellanova, Gagliardini, Mkhitaryan, Darmian; Dzeko, Correa

*I know Gosens isn't considered a starter by Inzaghi but i want to be positive he will turn things around.

Tbh this isn't so bad and it is definitely better than i expected after all the rumours about a big sale all summer.

- Lukaku is certainly an upgrade over Dzeko. It remains how much of an upgrade he is. Hopefully he will stay fit enough to find out.
- Perisic loss is a big one but it was totally expected the moment we signed Gosens. Instead of signing a proper lb backup we decided to take a gamble on Bellanova. If Gosens doesn't return to form we're gonna have a problem.
- I have serious concerns about Mkhi replacing even the injury prone and inconsistent version of Vidal we had watched in the last two seasons. I have concerns about our squad depth in midfield in general.
- We finally have a proper Brozovic backup. I like what i have seen from Asllani so far and i hope Inzaghi starts trusting him more.
- Acerbi is a decent replacement for Ranocchia but we did nothing to address De Vrij poor form last season.
- I understand the reasons behind the decision to offload Sanchez but i hope it won't bite us in the ass. We need Correa to stay fit and finally deliver.
- Missing on Bremer and, especially, losing him to Juventus was a tough pill to swallow. But if i have to choose between him and Skriniar, i am ok with how things went. I am still undecided whether we did well to choose Lukaku over Dybala. This could be the decider of our season.
- We are still one serious injury for a starting defender or midfielder for our season to go downhill.

All in all, i think the balance is positive considering our financial situation but it remains to be seen where we stand compared to our rivals after the mercato.

Yeah I'm pretty happy with the mercato too. Specially given this UEFA FFP settlement agreement looming now us for the next 4 years, meaning we need to keep cutting costs and restrict our spending. It's going to be like this for the foreseeable future.

Our team, as currently constructed, is going to have to fight for their lives to finish fourth. Three more summers of this = back to the peak banter years.

We will make easily top4 unless Inzaghi totally loses the locker room.

Conte make a good team, and Inzaghi decided to change it, and thanks to Zhang we already down quality from Scudetto material to survivor Top 4 . Perisic vital last season and gone. Sanchez always have impact, he gone.

Onana, Gosens, Asllani, Bellanova, and Correa are our spend, but why they are just to fill out bench? At least they start against low table clubs, so we can see how good are them.

It was a mediocre mercato at best.
Only players I am excited with is rom and asllani, would onana but inzaghi won't play him so no point.
The rest of the signings are meh or terrible.
I don't count keeping players, a club of inter's stature should keep their players.

It's a 3/10 for Zhang, ausilio,beppe & baccin.

In anticipation of a major rebuilding for next season, do you think this team could take the 20th scudetto?

Tajon Buchanan(Matteo Darmian) Robin Gosens(Raoul Bellanova)
Davide Frattesi(Giovanni Fabbian) Hakan Calhanoglu(Kristjan Asllani)
Franck Kessié(Henrikh Mkhitaryan)
Lautaro Martinez(Sebastiano Esposito) Roberto Firmino(Edin Dzeko)

Why do we insist on three at the back when we don't have really good wingbacks? Would like to see some experiments, maybe cover that wide weakness by stacking the midfield:

Onana
Darmian - Skriniar - Bastoni - Dimarco
Barella - Brozovic - Calhanoglu
Mikhitaryan
Lukaku - Lautaro
Too defensive and counter-attacking a formation for Inzaghi but he has to change something, the results from current approach have been absurd.

Of course Inzaghi won't change formations midseason. With Skriniar, de Vrij, and D'Ambrosio all leaving, this summer is the perfect opportunity to ditch the back three once and for all. I'm hoping we have a new manager who is ready to do so.

Small fix.
