FcInterNews: Belgian defender Zinho Vanheusden could return to Inter in the summer, due to the fact that he hasn’t been paid by Standard Liege for March or the following few months.

The report details how the 20-year-old Belgian joined Standard Liege in the summer of 2018 in a deal worth around €11.6 million. There was a verbal agreement between the teams that Vanheusden would stay there for three seasons, before Inter would buy back the player at a higher price.

Everything was going to plan until last month, the report continues, until the Belgian Football Federation’s decision to award the league title in advance and fully end this season. Standard Liege has frozen 100% of their players’ salaries, meaning that the 20-year-old won’t receive even €1 for the next few months. The reason for this salary freeze is because UEFA won’t grant a license to the club to play in the European cups next season, the report highlights, due to Standard’s irregular financial situation at the moment. The club allocated a large part of the players salaries to a hospital, but didn’t consult the squad before this.

Vanheusden could even go to FIFA to resolve this issue, the report adds. Now the 20-year-old is training at home in order to strengthen his knee, which underwent surgery earlier this season. He is expected to return to Italy now, and could either be sold by the Nerazzurri or sent elsewhere out on loan.

Get him in, especially since we’ll likely be shipping Godin off.

Aren't we focusing on Kumballa as Godin's replacement?

*Kumbulla, Marash Kumbulla :D yes, but the deals are not connected. This is just an opportunity in case Zinho decides to free himself from his current contract.

FCInterNews.it: The young defender joined the Belgian Pro League side outright this past Summer and as part of the deal, the two clubs came to a gentleman’s agreement that Inter can sign him back for around €15 million.

Standard Liege are currently experiencing financial problems and have been denied a UEFA licence for next season as a result. If the Belgian club’s appeal is not accepted then it is highly likely that they will have to resort to selling off players. Standard Liege could well even give Inter a discount on Vanheusden of a few million just to get some money in and if Vanheusden is to return, Inter would opt to loan him out for at least a season to help him in his development.

Inter’s Management To Decide On Zinho Vanheusden’s Future Today

Inter management are to meet today to decide the future of Zinho Vanheusden according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia.

The highly rated Belgian youth national team defender is currently on the books of Belgian Pro League club Standard Liege and Inter have an option to bring him back to the club for a sum of €20 million.

Vanheusden is an Inter academy graduate and following an 18 month loan spell with Standard Liege, he joined them on a permanent basis this past Summer.

The 20-year-old has been a regular for Standard Liege this season with him having made 28 appearances across all competitions to date. In his time on the park, which totals just over 2300 minutes, he has scored two goals.

Ahead of the upcoming Summer transfer window, a number of other clubs have been linked with making moves for Vanheusden with one report suggesting Fiorentina, Atalanta, Cagliari and Sampdoria have an interest.

I can't believe he's still only 20 years old. 20mil is a decent amount of money though, and I'd rather spend the extra 10mil and go for Kumbulla who has been great this season in Serie A rather than the Belgian league.

If we buy him, it's just to send him again on loan / sell with buyback option. No way Conte wants another kid with no Serie A experience to the squad. We may go for Kumbulla but at least he has some credentials. Most probably Conte wants a veteran LCB.

Apparently some kind of gentlemen agreement we can acquire him back next summer, I assume.

watched him in Europa league qualifiers agains Vojvodina which Standard won in OT. He was pretty good and also looked fast. He is also Standards captain, which is nice to see for a 21 year old. I also watched some of his games last year and he was good. Not sure if ready for Inter, but i'd definitely get him back next season. The only problem with him is his injuries, but if he stays healthy he could be one of the best Belgium defenders. Tomorrow he is playing against a Hungarian team which they should beat, so if anyone is interested check it out.

There are rumours we're following his development and we may bring him back next summer. He also made his debut for Belgium NT against Cote d'Ivoire last week.

This dude probably just tore his ACL.

Let out blood-curling screams when he came down, literally sent chills down my spine hearing it...
