Standard Liege are afraid that he may have torn his ACL, forcing him to miss a large part of this season. It is poor luck for the 21-year-old, who recently celebrated his debut with the Belgium national team.
“His knee was swollen and the doctors told him to go home. He will do tests to see what has happened. I hope with all my heart it is not such a bad thing,” Dussenne explained to broadcaster Eleven Sports, following on from the match, in which he scored a late winner for the home side.
“It is terrible for boys like Bokadi or me. I didn’t even dare go see, because I know what it’s like to see someone scream like that with knee pain. You already know what it is especially when you’ve been through it. This victory is for him.”
Vanheusden is a product Standard Liege’s youth academy but was signed by Inter Primavera and sold to Standard after a successful loan spell.
Inter do however maintain an option to buy him back which expires this coming summer. This season the 21-year-old, who is
Standard Liege captain, has made 13 appearances across all competitions to date.
EDIT: OFFICIAL - Unfortunately Standard Liege have confirmed that club captain Zinho Vanheusden has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament via an official statement posted on their official club website.
The player will undergo surgery as soon as possible and the club have estimated that he will be sidelined for around about six months.
