Him joining Milan would be a good laugh. And fitting as they're both fading into obscurity.

Hearing Ibrahimovic say all kinds of outrageous, self-aggrandizing shit is always mildly entertaining. He delivers catch phrases like a movie star.

When he signed for LA Galaxy, they ran an a full page ad in the LA Times newspaper, reading "Dear LA, you're welcome." The whole "Los Angeles, welcome to Zlatan" thing. Talking about himself in 3rd person. The Zlatan/Chuck Norris jokes etc. It's a full blown meme now. TBH he's being smart to play along with it and take advantage of the marketability.

That said, his tone and "trademark" arrogance seems to be getting even more outlandish, but as Brad said, his career is actually going the other way into obscurity. That is to say, the amount of "Zlatan personality" is way too much with regards to his actual on-pitch success in recent years. The discrepancy between the 'talk' and the 'walk' is too great to be believable. I could be wrong, but I think a lot of fans are seeing this and getting sick of him and are starting to turn on him. I don't think people care about Zlatan as much as he wants them to.

Worse yet, it seems like he himself is buying into his own "hype".

Same thing happened with Conor McGregor. When he was talking a huge game, predicting his victories, accurate to the round and the method, everyone loved him - because he was actually doing what he said he would. Like Zlatan, it spawned a whole bunch of memes too. Mystic Mac, "I predict deez tings" etc. But then he started losing a few fights and all the while his shit talking never ceased. If anything, it became even more ostentatious and outrageous. Again, the discrepancy between his words and his actions was notable and the shift in the fans attitudes was clearly visible. They started getting sick of him and turned on him too.

By all accounts, there is definitely some ongoing negotiation between Zlatan and Milan. I suspect Zlatan is personally disappointed that big clubs aren't lining up to sign him  He also seems to be asking for a massive wage, something like €6m/year. Milan on the other hand want a 6 month deal with the option of a further year. Perhaps he doesn't realise that no top European team will pay him anything close to what he thinks he's worth. Then again, Milan are a top team in history only.

Milanisti seem to think signing Ibra is like a video game cheat code and all of a sudden they'll have no problem beating small, stubborn teams. lol. I have no doubt that wherever he goes, he'll score some sick goals to add to his highlight reel. The quality of defending in MLS is somewhere between Serie B and C. In Serie A, I don't think he'll be even half as influential as he was 5 years ago.

I hope they get him. If they do, I think they'll end up spending a huge amount of money on what is essentially an expensive bandaid over a massive wound. He won't solve any of their long term problems and they still won't touch top-4. Milan is simply the "biggest" club that can offer him the most wages, where he can be a star player. Milan is the biggest small pond he can go to. Grande, Zlatan. Raid their coffers then go play in Qatar or China.

You are so wrong about Mac. The thing that came out about mac is not him talking shit and losing games. Its him upping his talking shit to attacks. Not only on Khabib and his family but also at the eldery people. He just showed his true personality which in many eyes are shit. Zlatan anyhow, who I greatly admired is turning into shit not because of talk the talk, walk the walk but because of his 10million different kind of commercial and how he treated the sweden NT last WC. He is taking advantage of his fans and I don't like that. Last claim he did was call out the sweden NT's coach for being racist. Wtf?

He is getting to an end of his career and tries to do everything in his power to earn that last coin. This motherfucker had almost 0 commercial until he turned 30 years old. Now he has more than Ronaldo and Beckham together.

The best move he can do now is go to Serie A where old people have a chance of scoring lots of goals

Hopefully he joins Milan. The only thing he'll add to Milan is entertainment.

They could act smart and scout some relatively unknown young talent for cheap and build the team upon that, but no. They'll waste everything on Zlatan. Good.

Well he obviously wants to move into business as he is approaching retirement. In general though apart from his larger than life talk and interviews where he hypes himself up the guy really as far as i know hasn't done much wrong in the public eye, he plays football and has a big personality thats it really. Wether people like him or hate his for whatever reason that really has nothing to do with him.

Can't agree with this wholeheartedly. Milan have a huge global following despite their mediocre results, if they sign him on a free transfer they will easily pay his wages just off his shirt sales alone. It's not a football move, it's a marketing move. You want your team to remain relevant in the public eye, and if you can't engineer instant success on the pitch, this is the second best thing. Plus his presence in the locker room will definitely affect everything in a positive way, he was able to keep those little shits at Manchester in line, he can definitely do the same at Milan. If signing Godin is considered a good move, there is no way one can write off Ibra. If (a big "if") he can avoid getting injured by Italian defenders, he is still good for 10-15 goals a year against midtable teams, giving more important strikers needed rest for other competitions. Sure he is a liability in terms of risk/reward at his age, but you still gain more than you lose with him.

To keep the long story short, I wouldn't be terribly against signing him ourselves. Agreed on Milan fans' delusion. They think he will rectify everything and bring them to a top 4 finish, and that's not happening in a million years. Gattuso was supposed to be their wonder weapon, then Piatek, then those wonder summer signings... On the other hand, if we managed to (seemingly) get out of our rut, it won't take them too long themselves. With some smart moves they could be at our current level in two to thee years. But this is not a smart move with that goal in mind, this is a band aid at best. I just don't have complete understanding of their financial situation and obligations to comment on its degree.

Sabatini just came out and confirmed Zlatan won`t be joinin Bologna :D so it seems almost sure that it`s Milan. Sabatini confessed to Tuttomercatoweb: “Ibrahimovic will not be coming to Bologna. He has made other choices.”

I don`t see him going to Napol for several reasons, so there you go.

For some stupid reason, part of me is hoping and expecting to see him sign for us in a complete U-Turn as Conte/Marotta have had an agreement this whole time.

We squeezed his prime years here at Inter and I thank him for those 3 years. But besides that, he's a man-child who talks about himself in 3rd person. And he's full of himself. His final good years were at ManU before the knee injury.

At this point he's a nothing but a 38 year old distraction to the club who loves to make headlines with his cringey quotes.

For those reasons, I'd love him to go to bbilan and I dunno why any Interista would want him here.

Ibra part of new-look Napoli?

Napoli have reportedly offered free agent Zlatan Ibrahimovic an 18-month contract as President Aurelio De Laurentiis plans a revolution.

Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira writes Napoli are serious about bringing in Ibrahimovic and will find out next week whether their pursuit is successful.

The Swede has been strongly linked with a return to Milan over the last several weeks and it was thought that the Partenopei had given up on signing him.

However, Schira is adamant they have tabled an offer for the 38-year-old, who told Asif Kapadia’s Diego Maradona documentary earlier this year that he was fascinated by the prospect of playing at the San Paolo.

Elsewhere, the transfer expert believes Allan will be sold, with Milan’s Franck Kessie or Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira coming in as a replacement.

The latter had been close to signing for Napoli two summers ago from Sampdoria but ended up moving to North London.

Back up top, Dries Mertens and Jose Callejon could be offloaded in January as new contracts would be out of the question for the pair.

Callejon has been tipped to link back up with Rafa Benitez in China, while Mertens is said to be a target for Inter.

Meanwhile, CalcioNapoli24 reports Carlo Ancelotti has already informed his squad that he will be stepping down as coach after the Champions League match against Racing Genk on Tuesday.

Gennaro Gattuso looks set to succeed Ancelotti at the helm, although former boss Edy Reja could be called back until the end of the season.
I guess we`ll soon find out.

Zlatan was smart enough to market himself in a certain way, especially during his US spell. Good for him, but that now belongs to Hollywood rather than performances on pitch [ADL comes into mind].

Point is, there is no point for us to take Ibra - we`ve cleared the dressing room air and the squad harmony seems to pay off. Besides, we already have Lautaro and Lukaku performing well, don`t fix what`s not broken. I believe there are very few Inter supporters that would want Ibra back at this point.

Forget about Mertens, we should be seriously looking into Allan.

Kinda off-topic, but that boat sailed years ago [2015]. We need to sign the next big player, not fill the pockets of our competitors.

I doubt Marotta will pay €80m for 29 year-old Allan. Plus, ADL already rejected €65m last summer from P$G (asking for €100m). I`m sure most of FIF would rather prefer to invest that kind of money in SMS.

The proposal on the table from PSG includes a salary worth €8m per year plus bonuses, so that would be also not on our road-map. Would rather offer that kind of money to Eriksen than utility player, which is easier to reproduce.

Considering Allan is one of the worst troublemakers in the current situation at Napoli (note I'm not saying he is a troublemaker in general and I don't know what on earth is going on over there) his price should be way lower than 80M, more like 50M, similar to how Icardi wasn't 110M but 70M... Anyway, I think we need a solid contributor in midfield and a DM with good passing so he fits the bill perfectly. We already have youth in midfield why not add an experienced player who can still deliver for at least three seasons, it's not like he's 31-2 already.

I see your point, but still I believe ADL is much better at SELLING than Marotta. So far, we`ve only LOANED out our issues. Fingers crossed. Corriere dello Sport reported how Allan confronted Vice-President Edoardo De Laurentiis in the dressing room and that the situation almost went out of hand.

with regards to the midfield, I believe both Conte & Marotta know this, this is why we are trying to get a sweet deal on a hardworking player like Rakitic/Vidal/Strootman/Tonali/De Paul/Matic(?)...

on-topic: GdS writes today that Zlatan chose milan. :eek:blivious:

Allan would be a beast for us and would free up Brozović to roam more. He would be perfect for us - straight away. But I don't believe we have that spending power even if Barbosa and Joao Mario are sold this winter. I don't think we have any extra money laying around.

Also Napoli would try to fuck us and want to get somebody in return, like D'Ambrosio or Brozović.
