Zhang is to blame, but Marotta is also to blame.

Before Marotta we sold players we never heard of and most likely never would, because our priority was to raise funds by selling players we don't need and build a core.
With Marotta it's like "let's please ownership by raising funds no matter what, and we'll see how we build the team".

If it weren't for a few Italians on the team and Lautaro, nothing else from the 2023-24 squad would scream that this is Inter.
Well Marotta does what his boss tels him, expecially in our situation, and like everybody does

Not really.

His boss tells him to make up X amount of money.

If anything, his boss told him off for letting Skriniar go for so cheap (50m incl bonuses) to PSG that he blocked the transfer and expected more. Not knowing who he was dealing with on the other end.
Marotta looked for the easy way out. There was the option to sell De Vrij, Dumfries and 1-2 other players to reach 50m, extend Skriniar who was willing to stay and find a way to fill up the roster with the limited funds.

Instead, Marotta sends away high profile players. Which as a side effect means that new high profile players would be reluctant to join us. We're disloyal to our best players. Complete 180 from the pre-Marotta era, even with shit roster fillers.

I get why Inzaghi wants him; I just hope we don't bite. He's a good passer and helps the team move the ball in transition, which we need because Dzeko was the only player we had like that, the "offensive regista" if you like. But he's just such an average goalscorer and we need someone who doesn't jizz their pants everytime they're presented a goal-scoring opportunity.

This would have been an excellent bosman or cheap transfer ala Dzeko or Mkhitaryan, but Atletico are holding firm on a 20mil fee and he would cost at least 10 in gross wages. No thanks.

well he does that, I agree, I get that in the end of the day Zang look at the numbers, not the work behind, but raising money from players is not that easy as you know, there might be interes for them but we don't know how serious were they, and that would mean all summer of selling and unlocking our mercato, and what we will get, last minute buys just like Correa was, don't get me wrong, Marotta is ok not perfect, but in the end of the day he is really working with limited funds and a coach with fetish for experienced players, just like his own

Good, now we can continue the mindlessness of comparing expensive apples, with past due date oranges and a turncoat grapefruit.
