Just goes to show how reliable mercato news are. First he was going to Watford, then Burnley, then he was staying with us, now he's going to Aston Villa, next week I expect he'll sign for Crystal Palace.

Thank you @Inter, the players, the staff and of course you, the fans. The welcome from day one until the last day was incredible. You welcomed me into the Inter Family with open arms and I can’t thank you enough Blue heart Black heart you will always have a place in my heart as I watch from afar.

Winning The Scudetto made my time at Inter so special and I really have to thank my teammates for that, what an amazing dressing room, amazing group on and off the pitch, you all helped me in your own way and we shared the best, most incredible moment by winning the title Trophy

To the staff, all of you helped me along my journey and I really do have friends for life in you all, so thank you.

The Club, The President, The Directors, The Manager, everyone who made it possible for me to come to this fantastic club and be part of history, I owe you so much and can’t thank you enough.

The Fans, before the pandemic hearing you singing in the stadium, memorably the match against AC Milan when we were 2-0 down at half time and we came back to win 4-2, that was because of the support and backing you gave us.

The players and staff won The Scudetto but you were there with us all the way and we won it for you. The last few games of the season, seeing you outside the stadium, the scenes were incredible and they are memories that will stay with me for life.

I wish the Club, the players, the staff and you, the fans, the best for next season. FORZA INTER Blue heart Black heart

I am still surprised by the fact that we offered him a contract extension, was it really serious?, I thought it was a joke or media BS?

He cares more about Inter than Inter, so he rejected that extension. He knows he is more suited to a team like Villa now. All respect to him, gave 2 good years, especially the first.

GOOD LUCK, ASHLEY!

Inter wish the English winger all the best as he bids the club farewell

Ashley, the boy who wanted to play football. Who desperately wanted to make it as a pro. Who was willing to make sacrifices to get there. And he came a long way: from Stevenage Colts to Watford, Aston Villa, Manchester United... and Inter.

January 2020 was the start of a new adventure. At the age of 34, having won a Premier League, an FA Cup, a League Cup, three Community Shield and a Europa League, he wanted a new challenge – and more silverware.

He joined Inter with bags of experience and the desire to prove himself. And he wasted no time putting his skills to good use on the flank, notching an assist on his debut. In 18 months at Inter, he racked up 59 appearances, with five goals and nine assists to boot. Few will forget his stunning curling effort against Atalanta last summer. He even rubber-stamped his final appearance against Udinese with a goal.

"Paul Ince was a legend. I would be happy if I could follow in his footsteps. My message for the fans is that we'll win again. I'm here for this.

That's how Ashley introduced himself to the Nerazzurri faithful. More than a promise, it was a certainty. And so it proved as he became the first Englishman to win the Scudetto with Inter, achieving what Ince and Gerry Hitchens before him had not been able to do. Young was a key figure not just on the pitch but also in the dressing room. Always there for his team-mates, ready to dispel tensions or offer a word of advice. He developed a sense of belonging, a bond with the club, the team and the fans. Which he made clear in his farewell message:

"Thank you Inter, the players, the staff and of course you, the fans. The welcome from day one until the last day was incredible. You welcomed me into the Inter Family with open arms and I can’t thank you enough. You will always have a place in my heart as I watch from afar.

“Winning The Scudetto made my time at Inter so special and I really have to thank my teammates for that, what an amazing dressing room, amazing group on and off the pitch, you all helped me in your own way and we shared the best, most incredible moment by winning the title

“To the staff, all of you helped me along my journey and I really do have friends for life in you all, so thank you.

“The Club, The President, The Directors, The Manager, everyone who made it possible for me to come to this fantastic club and be part of history, I owe you so much and can’t thank you enough.

“The Fans, before the pandemic hearing you singing in the stadium, memorably the match against AC Milan when we were 2-0 down at half time and we came back to win 4-2, that was because of the support and backing you gave us.

“The players and staff won The Scudetto but you were there with us all the way and we won it for you. The last few games of the season, seeing you outside the stadium, the scenes were incredible and they are memories that will stay with me for life.

“I wish the Club, the players, the staff and you, the fans, the best for next season. FORZA INTER.”

For us Interisti, it was an honour and a pleasure to celebrate with you, Ashley. And we wish you the best of luck as you return to Aston Villa. With a song ringing in your ears: "Siamo noi, i campioni d'Italia siamo noi [We are the champions of Italy]...”

Good luck, Ashley!

Definitely got more of him than what we paid for. Thanks for not taking advantage of our management's stupid head.

‘Crazy’ – Ashley Young opens up on the benefits of Conte’s training regime

Ashley Young has admitted that the pre-season he had under Antonio Conte at Inter Milan was brutal but insisted that the work helped him to become fitter than he has ever been in his career.

The demanding training regime of Conte and his staff has been well documented over the years and the Tottenham players got to experience that first-hand during pre-season.

The Tottenham squad were reportedly made to run 42 lengths of the pitch at a quick pace in the 30C heat of Seoul after playing a full-pitch game, with the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min seen collapsing in the middle of the session before picking themselves up to soldier on (Daily Mail).

Although cameras were not present at Hotspur Way to fully document how hard Conte worked the players in the mini-pre season before the campaign resumed on Boxing Day, Dejan Kulusevski revealed last month that the players had worked even harder than they did back in the summer (Football.London).

Young has now spoken about his experience of training under the Italian, explaining that he and his former Inter teammates benefited hugely from the fitness work.

When asked about working with Conte, the Aston Villa star told The Telegraph: “Oh, he is intense. If you ask any player who has played under him – you either sink or swim.

“You have to be on board with him and want to work. He is going to test you. But if you can come through that test and you want to win and succeed.

“He [Conte] tests you in training, where you are running non-stop. There will be different training times. It’s a different culture. I say that we ran a lot out there … I think I saw every part of that training ground because we ran around it all.

“I say it was one of the toughest pre-seasons [2020] but I think it set me in good stead. From then I have felt the fittest I have ever felt. I know saying that at 37, having gone through my twenties, is crazy.

“But you get to know your body. I don’t know whether it was being pushed as hard as ever. But it was a crazy amount of running – I know that.

“You could tell in games when teams would stay with us until half-time and then around the 60th minute you would see them drop off because they couldn’t deal with our fitness. We would kick on again and there were so many times we got late goals.”
