It struck me that there's literally zero players in this lineup (and barely any in the greater squad) who could be considered "on the up" or even coming off any positive momentum.
Handanovic - 38 years old and severely finished. A liability who should've retired 2 years ago
D'Ambrosio - was always a mediocre player but had some cult-hero moments, is about 3 years past his prime (as a mediocre player)
De Vrij - absolutely shocking decline in the last 48 months. One of the most extremely depreciated assets in world football having lost about 80% of his market value in 2 years
Acerbi - a solid-at-best defender but a few years past his prime
Bellanova - mediocre young player who will likely never amount to much
Gagliardini - basically the midfield Bellanova of a previous generation, is leaving in 2 months after a failed career at the top level
Brozovic - one of the the few excellent players in the team but is a nutcase who has spent 75% of the season injured
Calhanoglu - one of the rare players who has had a good season but is also coming off an injury
Gosens - still a shadow of his Atalanta self
Lukaku - probably the biggest joke in world foortball. Is following up the 2nd worst season in his life with the worst season in his life
Correa - a joke of a player who will go down as one of the worst transfers in the last 2 decades
