I'm not sure that the Eriksen experiment is being given a proper opportunity to work here. If he was playing in the regista role with Vidal and Barella as two hardworking B2B mids flanking him, as well as our usual back three, I could see the idea having potential. But with only Vidal playing a B2B role and having Froggy and Lolarov playing behind him? I don't see how this is supposed to have enough defensive balance to keep Ribery from ripping us a new asshole once again. We already conceded three against this team this season, and I know Chiesa was still there at the time, but we're going to back to Kolarov playing a CB role when he had an absolute nightmare the last time.

We might still win thanks to sheer quality alone, I have no idea, but this isn't the supporting cast to see out this Eriksen experiment.

I remember Brozo as horrible AMF but since then he became one of the best Regista's in the world imo. I believe and hope Eriksen can do the same path, although Eriksen is very good as AMF, unlike brozo was.

Months ago there was a discussion about Tibo Persyn being our third option for the right wing in 2020/21 season. It was even rumoured Conte wanted to see him in preseason with the first team. But i haven't heard anything about him in ages.

I am glad to see Eriksen getting another chance at a different role. Don't know whether this is to showcase him during the mercato or coz Inter have given up on his sale this winter, either way there is incentive for both Eriksen and Conte to make this work. Deep playmaker role should take off the pressure of scoring goals, so as long as Eriksen plays with energy and makes some good passes, this could work.

This is my only interest in this game, I usually don't care about coppa. Hope this experiment works.

There is no excuse for Conte to not deliver in Coppa. Winning is the minimum and the realistic target for we do not have European competition anymore, the quality of opponents in Coppa are much lesser than UCL or EL, and the path to final is very short. Anything than reaching the final can be considered total failure and even worse than finishing last in UCL group.


The lineup screams massive defensive frailties, but we should still ease past them due to our sheer quality especially in offence. Lolarov will be the obvious focus of their attack and the scoreline will depend a lot on him preventing Callejon to pull off his signature move of ghosting from his blindside. And, if Eriksen-Sensi-Alexis-Lautaro can perform decently and not wasting 10 clear cut chances then we should be winning.
