To be overly charitable to Buchanan, I have to assume he’s showing something in training. For better or worse, Inzaghi doesn’t really give undeserved minutes. We saw Asllani glued to the bench last season, Klaassen has received minutes commensurate with his mediocrity and so on. The fact that he’s getting minutes might be suggestive, especially as we’re already well covered on the left.

If I had to guess why he’s being played on the left, we’re probably setup to attack more with our LWBs. Miki’s often laying off and dropping back behind Dimarco and Bastoni, while Barella/Frattesi are the primary offensive source on the right (especially when Darmian is playing RWB).
Could be.

Nice episode. A reason Buchanan is in "the wrong position", in part due to substitution. Augusto can start for Dimarco, then shift down to Bastoni's spot when he's subbed off leaving either putting on Dimarco ( who needs a break) or Buchanan. Darmain/Dumfries is pretty much etched in stone atm. Still depressing thinking that the striker subs maybe Taremi, Arnautovic and the mighty Correa for next season. Forza Marseille by the way;)

Taremi may surprise us all. He is still 31 with a lot of experience. As a number 3 striker, he will do well, I think.

Midfielders season in review is up. We spend way too much time talking about Asllani. We also talk about the Sassuolo loss, but only one member is particularly upset about it.

Nice episode. Liked the debate about who the hell is going to give Mkhitaryan a break in minutes next season. Guess it's really up in the air. Like for Bisseck and Frattesi to start. Start Thuram with Arnautovic . Since Dumfries was so frustrating start him as well. Rest Bastoni and put Augusto in but start Dimarco, if he's sober and fit. Acerbi is fine. Best it will still be another day at the beach for the lads, a draw vs Frosinone seems right. Looking forward for all the starters vs Lazio at home, interested if they switch on for that one.

8 assists for Miki, not 10. Zielinski and Miki would probably split games next year.

And thanks for reminding about Hakan's 15 goals. I missed one Supercoppa goal in my table. Corrected already.

Sassuolo actually don't have good track record against Juventus and Milan. Especially with Juventus. Can't believe some actually forgot their shady business with them. People can't stand Sassuolo for a very good reasons.

It's the same with Udinese. They also need to go down cause of their strong connection with Juventus.

I'm counting five instances where Sassuolo has taken points off Juventus since 2019. Considering their size it's a pretty good record. Not as good as their record against us, but still.

I think we're being too harsh on Asllani. The important thing is that machine still turns when he's on the field. Yes, he's not Hakan, but our system of play doesn't suffer, we only suffer the drop in individual quality. Frattesi on the other hand, does compromise our style of play when he starts.

I also think Miki's dribbling is overrated in what it offers to the team. His quick passing is a major asset, but my hunch is that Inzaghi's infatuation is more to do with what he offers off the ball.

Asllani looks two clicks slower than everyone else on the pitch. That's the biggest issue.

The talent is there, the will definitely is there, but he doesn't ooze of professional athleticism. Even a donkey looking type of player like Gagliardini didn't seem so out of water without the ball or upon receiving it.

Asllani takes forever to turn his body when he gets the ball man. It looks ridiculously bad. He can swing it better than properly if he has time and space, and off the ball he has no idea of where to go when we have possession. If he's signalled out by opponents the whole team collapses tactically.

I don't know if that can be fixed, but it's definitely something you can protect in the pitch if you value the qualities that he brings. But he's too raw for that and we're in a delicate position to experiment and breed such a player.

Needs to go on loan, and honestly I don't think anyone will be sad if he's outright sold for a decent amount (15ish, which was his initial cost iirc) aside from him.

Season in review for the wingbacks is up. A lot of discussion around Dumfries and his future at the club. @ChillBro makes a super compelling argument for why we should renew Cuadrado.

We also talk about Frosinone and Lazio.

Liked the episode, agree that the Frosinone scoreline was indeed, not a true indicator of the match. For me Bisseck and Augusto did great in their roles. The Dumfries conundrum is interesting, still think if he drops his price a bit, Inter should extend him if not, how about Zanotti? Best spend the available monies on the 2nd goalkeeper and another over the hill striker ( not as much) . Wonder if Bisseck could sub for Acerbi/De Vrij as well as for Pavard.

Zanotti is a popular idea that we should have addressed tbh
