I'm having trouble with Icardi now. It's always a risk to throw someone like that into the starting 11, especially in a team as toxic as Inter's. However, he's got all the right attributes to be a great counter-attacking forward, and if that's how Mazzarri plans on setting us up then Icardi can thrive.

Whereas before, I was saying that a new CF is a must, someone to start ahead of Icardi while we're applying pressure (and Icardi comes on when we're leading to kill the game off), now I'm questioning that since I'm pretty sure we'll be doing a lot more countering.

we're almost certainly going to sign another forward, though. And with Icardi, Palacio, Milito, +1, and maybe even +2 (when we sell Cassano), we should have decent options

Listen, we have to be confident about Icardi. He scored 10 goals this season, that's amazing considering he's a young talent. We should be happy that we'll have him and we should give him full confidence and playing time. I'm all for it tbh, we have to be a little more patient with young talents because we always whine about the fact that all our young talents are running away and are becoming big stars in rival teams.

Now Icardi is not a home grown player, but you get my point..

I would like to say that I have confidence in him, he seems arrogant enough to survive anyway, I'm just worried about that one day where he'll miss an easy chance (as all strikers do on occasion) and our fans go torch his house.

My other (bigger) worry, which, like I've said, might not be relevant with Mazzarri, is that he seems to be much better suited to a counter-attacking team than a possession-based team.

All Mazzarri's teams have played a good counter-attacking football. :)

This is true, but I imagine that, eventually, I imagine teams will start to sit back against us and force us to take initiative.

Here's my prediction: If Icardi is to be our main forward, then he'll have a strong start to the season. However, I can see him hitting a dry spell midway into the season once teams stop giving him so much space.

True, and don't them all? Same for Milito... we'll have to wait and see i guess, but i'm really happy we're getting Icardi.

Palacio and Milito should be great models for Icardi, eh should learn the best of them, Palacio being fast and some good skills in a second striker and Milito in finishing oportunities, but we do need some one else, if we do sell Cassano(i'd like how Cassano plays with Milito and Palacio) our Starter offense be like this:

-------Milito/New player----Icardi-------------
------------------Palacio---------------------

But i really dont know who will cover that position

I think 3 strikers are way too many for Mazzarri. It will probably be an AM behind 2 strikers. Or an AM and a support striker behind a striker. Perhaps more like:

-----------Milito / Icardi
----------------------- Palacio / Cassano
----- Guarin / Botta / Alvarez

If we can replace Milito with a new striker of similar quality, this could work.

He reminds me of Mancini. He can take us almost to the top but he will make us a top 3 team and get eliminated at the 2nd round of Champions at best. It's only a 2 year deal so maybe that is what we want then we bring in a new coach when we have investors.

I just think he should have done way better with te roster he had at Napoli. But on Icardi all you want but he will never be 1/5 of Cavani. Same with Guarin/Kova and Hamsik.

Mancini is different, he experiments with formations that don't seem to work for his team. mazzari, on the other hand, knows what he wants and has clear ideas of which direction to take his team.

Wait what? Is Crzd suggesting Kovacic is shit?

Who cares if hes played a day or a month for us, a good player is a good player regardless of the amount of time hes played.

In fact, Kovacic played so well consistently through this half of last season suggests that hes even better than what people are giving him credits. He doesnt even need the settling to a new environment pathetic excuse.

What do you mean "way better"? CL finals, italian championship?
You are talking only about Cavani and Hamsik? Have you forgotten that in football a team has 11 players. And I don't think you believe with the ones of Britos, P.Canavarro, Aronica, Zuniga, Behrami, Dzemailli, Pandev you can dream of glory? And don't forget about reserves.
Mazzarri did well with the roster he had in Napoli.

Why are you trolling? I never said Kova was shit. I just don't think at his age with only half a season in Italy he is our best MF. Never did I say he is shit. He is one of the only players I think we should keep after this bullshit season

Haha. It would be almost hilarious and would totally pinpoint the difference between Juventus and Inter. Since it would like this:

Vucinic -> Inter
Jovetic -> Juventus

I wouldn't say no to the experienced striker who scored 99 goals in Serie A.

Good on the ball, speedy, and quite good with his finishing.
