Finally watched The Revenant. Fantastic camera work, directing and cinematography. Leo and Hardy knocked it out of the park as well.

The cinematography and acting was pretty damn good in that film, especially Leo & Tom Hardy's. The general plot and film were quite good, but not as good as I expected from the ratings and the hype. It was a very well made film though.

Unrealistic as fuck though, even if slightly based off of a true story. Leo would have died pretty much at the start of the film IRL

Nah, no way. It's good, shot beautifully, but the story let's it down. Especially the second half

I think the reason some people don't like the story much is because the pace is very slow when there's not any action scene happening. It's mostly Leo crawling and suffering. If for example compared to John Wick, both are revenge stories but John Wick is much more fast paced and the pauses between action scenes are not too long.

Woah, me myself enjoy the story, especially in the second half, about the very slow pace, the struggling Character Leo have until the end were thrilling and satisfy me. Di Caprio (actor) and Alejandro (director) both combine resulting a beautiful film.

I'm not saying the story is terrible, but it's pretty straight forward. Simple revenge story at it's core. Nothing wrong with that, but film of the year? Nah, definitely not.

Mad Max was my favorite movie from last year, simply the best experience I've had in a cinema in a long, long time.

I can understand people liking each of H8, Sicario, SW:FA or Bridge of Spies as their favourite movie of 2015, but with Revenant it's a bit different. I got less enjoyment from Revenant.

It's an experience, a well directed one, but there is no moral undertone (at least I didn't notice it) like the director's other movies (that trilogy he did was cool to me storywise, the one with 21 grams), so I was a bit disappointed. It wasn't more than a high quality Deadwood episode =)

Fuck, don't listen to me, I'm not supposed to tell people what they like better than other shit.

I don't think people liked and are hailing Revenant as film of the year for the story. It was a very raw film, the action scenes were phenomenal and made you feel like you were there, the camera and cinematography were excellent and the acting was immense. wera, you said it well; it was an experience.

Same with Mad Max, the story was pretty simple and straight forward but it was nominated for a whopping 10 times.

Anyone who thinks Bridge of Spies is the best of 2015 is wrong though. At least with the Revenant you can say it has the best cinematography of any film of the year, and quality acting performances.

Anyway, I don't think a film needs a moral undertone to be the best of a given year, but it needs a few more layers than Revenant had. Any film where the most memorable thing is a bear attack probably isn't the film of the year.

The award is called "best picture" after all. Maybe the one that just looks the best wins it and not the one who meant the most.

Yeah, Shaun, that is what I meant. It's my own prejudice for expecting too much from the movie (which I still enjoyed).

It was a good years for big movies, not so much for indie movies, but all I saw where pretty good in my book.

The film of the year is pretty much the film that people like the most. It doesn't matter if it has 1 layer or 100, a moral undertone or not, a fantastic CGI bear that people think it's real or not.

Anyway, if anyone wants to watch another movie where the main character gets tortured they should go and watch Room. Brie Larson's performance in Room > Leo's performance in Revenant. And her character actually goes through an arc. I think it's the better film too. However, since it was made for 10m dollars and no one really saw it I don't think it will win the best picture Oscar. Brie Larson should be a lock for best actress though

I have list of my dvd that im gonna watch soon. Joy, spotlight, room, bridge of spies, danish girl, basicly all the oscar category movie. Anyone saw the danish girl? Im curious how the lead actor perform the transgender role, as last year he won the oscar. Seeing the thriller i thought he is gonna win this thing again, thankfully dicaprio won the critic awards and golden globe, i guess its Leo time now for getting an oscar.

Plus i already see steve jobs and creed, sylvester stalone win the golden globe and critics choices award is surprising me, make me see this film, before when it comes out i just laugh my ass , woah another rocky movie : lol: stalone acting was good Imo, im surprise why tom hardy didnt win any of this award as actor in supproting role in Revenant. Anyway steve jobs its kind a meh to me, fassbender only good in performing old steve jobs, he just look like him, the acting itself kind a so so to me.

I haven't seen any person hailing Force Awakens as the film of the year. Granted I didn't see the movie myself so I'd rather not comment on it without watching it first.

It was more of a movie for the fans than for the critics. For me it was the greatest cinema experience I've had in years since I'm such a fan of the series. It got 5 noms though. All of them in the sound department, except for the one in effects.
