Ausilio is doing a great job for the conditions he is working in right now but honestly this great atmosphere circulating around inter seems a little unjustified in my opinion and usually leads to disappointment with naming out title objectives and not performing to the task.

Basically until now we have the same team we had last year with the following changes:
+++more cover in the CB department --> useful in the long run to not lose precious points (think santon as cb vs fiore)
++more cover in the ST position --> useful since we are playing CL but honestly we cannot evaluate as of now if adding lautaro and giving him more minutes as a replacement instead of Eder will produce more points in the league. To me having Pinamonti has youth back up or having Lautaro is the same in terms of points won until Lautaro actually produces to his hype
+better at LB position by adding Asamaoh --> for sure an improvement over last season but not of the type that transforms your team or anything. Just a solid addition that hopefully will add on the winning mentality of the team

---way worse in the RB position --> losing cancelo equals losing both a rb and a midfielder. As of now not replaced.

=Naingolan in the AM position --> we lost creativity in Rafinha and won strength in Naingolan. I don't think anyone can be so sure if we won or lost on this swap so for the moment i would give it an equal sign.

So basically , as of now i can't see why we are stronger this year in comparison to last one. We still need to improve the RW position by selling Candreva (yes we need to sell some 1st team player as well not only youths) and buying someone (politano doesn't actually comfort me) , improve the RB position over dambrosio and add a Strong DM. At least these are the 3 rumoured positions we are looking into. Even with these 3 done we still would lack an alternative to Perisic (which means we can't do shit when he starts his underperfoming period of the season) , an alternative to AM position.

Maybe we get Politano to backup the winger positions generally. Though optimal would be to have backup for LW and RW and then ship Candreva out or loan out Karamoh.

I like cristante but Roma seem to be hedging all their bets on him

Aren't they playing a bit different positions? Cristante a bit upper in the field and Pastore a bit lower? Somehow I doubt they got 30m€ Cristante and 25m€ Pastore for one of them to sit on the bench.

I think its the other way around anyway italian media says that di francesco doesn't intend to switch from the 433 system so probably pastore and cristante will be 2 advanced cm in the 3 in the middle with de rossi as dm. While strotman , pellegri , coric and probably smn i am forgetting as a back up.

Ausilio is doing a great job with youth sales so far. I know our primavera won the scudetto, but still the prices we are getting are very commendable. Deal which are done or close to be done:
- Zaniolo to Roma - €4.5m done
- Valietti to Genoa - €7m done
- Bardi to Frosinone - €1m done
- Bettella to Atalanta - €7m done
- Puscas to Leganes - €4m
- Radu to Genoa - €5m
- Carraro to Atalanta - €5m
- Odgaard to Sassuolo - €5m

Thats €39m already. Plus we are looking to sell other youth players like Pinamonti, Zappa, Merola, Bakayoko, etc along with ex youth players like Biabiany, Dimarco, Minaj, etc.

The fact that we are retaining a buy back option on most of them is fantastic business. This is a great way to fund our transfer campaign, considering how bad we are at nurturing primavera stars to develop into first team starters.

Well done, Ausilio!! Keep up the good work.

I believe he also managed to put buy-back clauses both on Valietti and Odgaard. Simply awesome!

There is nothing much we can do other than sell youth, due to FFP reasons.

I believe selling youth is a pretty good strategy, hype them up crazy by winning the Scudetto, then get rid of them immediately to make room to for purchases with proven skills and experience.

Basically we have never made use of our own youth products anyway, selling them during hype maximizes the profit we make out of them in this scenario, and that is the single biggest contribution our youth can possibly give to the club.

We can at least use this strategy until they realized our youth products are pretty much frauds, and by then hopefully our brand grows large enough to be sustainable and we become a regular for CL.

Don't you think that we need some "success stories" though to keep this way of business going? At least one of our primavera products seriously needs to shine if we want to do this every season, so that the clubs see some justification behind their spending, see that they may be buying another player like that. This is another reason why I would like Spalletti to use those players more.

No, not if we aim to completely become self sustainable in a year or two time.

The purchases of experienced players is what going to drag us up to the CL spots for next two years, so that we are not completely dependent on selling youth.for our next mercatos, because there would be consistent CL money. Assuming this route of purchasing experience goes well.

Because like yourself said, it's not a long term thing. We can only trick people long enough until they realized what we are doing here.

Best thing is that the players went to clubs (for the most part) who actually develop players so we may actually see some players back here

This has been one of the best mercato's ever. We have gotten it right on everyone we have sold and bought. Let's ride the momentum and keep it going with more junk being sold!

Again, getting Rafinha now would be unwise considering we'll play Nainggolan as the AMF. Do you want us to splash 38m on a substitute?

Unless Barca decide to significantly reduce his price/agree to another loan deal or Spalletti opts to field Nainggolan further back, there is absolutely no reason to chase Rafinha.

Another Loan would do. Maybe skip Dembele if he is between us and China as his heart ain’t in it. You can move RN next to Brozovic and have Rafi upfront. RN is great running at you from the back, that’s a lineup you have to consider when you are behind.

I don't get why we don't go for free transfers which are quality. Even if they flop they are minimum risk. Bernard Duarte is one I really really like and we can rejuvenate Wilshere too. But in Ausillio we trust maybe the man does have a plan
