crzd is right on that one. Its a lot of mental pressure to win 1st WC. Even Spain had already won EUROs previously at least.

Croatias mentality doesnt seem that great tbh. Theyre not hungry enough.

looking at the last "new WC winners"...

2010 Spain
1998 France
1978 Argentina
1966 England

Well, Croatia would be still the biggest suprise ever because this 4 nations had always great players in their history. And how many times Croatia managed to get in the Top 8 for example? Not many i think..
The days of pride and glory.

Shame this NT is so disgusting now.But yeah, they have good chance to go far.

Croatia also indirectly gave Denmark a chance to win the Euro in 1992. (But let's not go there)

You cannot really judge as it's a very young state and could only participate in 1998-2018. They made it 5 out of 6 times. They're by far the best and most consistent team of the ones that emerged in the last 30 years. The Czechs were also rather good but not as consistent.

I think generally Croatia's biggest issue has been mentality in certain games.

In 2014, they really underestimated Mexico, even though Mexico already beat them in 2002. It might have had to do with the fact Mexico hardly qualified in 2014, but they always step for the World Cup.

In 2002, they lost to Ecuador in the last match after beating Italy, and Ecuador had nothing to play for.

It will be interesting to see a new team do it. I'm still tipping Brazil though.

I'm curious to see what people predicted in the group stages. I got the entire knockout draws right except for Germany/Poland :work:

Poland is probably the only one that could have been salvaged, because no one in their right mind would have had Germany last in the group.

I really hope a new team wins. Croatia, Colombia, Belgium or Mexico. If a former champ wins I hope its Uruguay. Not Brazil, France, Spain or England......

def dont want Argentina or Portugal to win ..... because then the fans of Messi/Ronaldo will be like YES he is the greatest ever because he won in russia :)

One of:
Spain
Russia
Colombia
England
Sweden
Switzerland
Croatia
Denmark

will be in the final. Feels a bit weird doesn't it? If Spain can overcome Russia and Colombia overcomes England I think they'll be the semi finalists. Croatia can probably torch Denmark and then lose in the quarters, though it'd be nice to see them go far, assuming. It'd be cool to see Russia in the semis though, as long as it's not due to favorable refereeing.

I fucking hate this Argentina team but I'd love to see Brazil-Argentina in the semis. Just for the Argie fans to be there. But France imo will eliminate Argentina, odds are 55-45 though. You can't really make solid predictions in a one off knockout game.

Good point. I thought it was the other way around but Mexico tied Brazil that year.

Of all the teams left, there is none that I don't like. I'll be happy for whomever wins it now.

Is Brazil without Casemiro tho? That is a bummer for them.

How can anyone genuinely like England? I get liking them for the laughs, but actually liking that team? :D Unless you're English of course but that would add a question "how can you like France as an Englishman?"

I'll also add this "Suisse" team, very unlikable.

For football's sake, Sweden and Colombia go through. But since whatever runs this world/universe/cosmos hates real football, we'll have England and Switzerland.

This is Japanese dressing room after one of the most heartbreaking nights in their history. Left it pristine, complete with a note that said ‘thank you’ in Russian. Pure class. #BELJAP

I like the Tottenham players in their NT a lot and I'm happy they are performing well. Especially since it's helping my argument that Dele Alli, Trippier and Kane aren't hacks.

Yeah, some teams I like just for being underdogs like the Suisse.

But I really don't care who wins it now - England, France, Brazil, Colombia, Belgium, Russia - a lot of players I like from these countries. I probably like Brazil the most just because I have a thing for Marcelo, Neymar, Coutinho, Firmino and Willian. And let's not forget that Miranda is also there, bossing.
