Best player on the pitch alongside our own Perisic. Started rather slowly but after that he dominated the midfield, expertly spreading the play from deep. Was even better today than Modric and Rakitic. France midfield are going to be a much tougher challenge for him. Knowing this guy, though, he won't be affected by an inch of pressure even on the biggest stage of all.

He was the best midfielder on the pitch and Perisic was the best player on the pitch and somehow it's all about Modric. Its well and good recognizing class players who should have rated more highly but sometimes performances are rated based on reputations.

i think it's just the result of ignorance and therefore a bit of prejudice: he doesn't play in premier league, barcelona or real madrid, so many journalists don't know much about him if anything at all.
