I would like Cavani and Zapata or Belotti (only for a decent price) if we don't get Lukaku

If we can get Cavani on a cheap and add Kean, I would be happy with that. That should leave us with some budget to go after a big signing in the midfield (SMS?). I would be pleased with something like this:

Cavani (Kean) - Martinez (Politano)
Perisic (Asamoah) - SMS (Nainggolan) - Brozovic (Sensi) - Barella (Vecino) - Alves (Lazaro)
Skriniar (Bastoni) - Godin (Ranocchia) - De Vrij (D'Ambrosio)
Handanovic (Padelli)

That team could compete with Juve and Napoli, or at least we can give Conte a fighting chance.

Napoli & Inter fight for Pepe
By Football Italia staff

Napoli are reportedly set to offer €55m plus Adam Ounas for Lille forward Nicolas Pepe, but Inter have already bid €80m including bonuses.

According to Sportitalia’s Alfredo Pedulla, Napoli’s insistence on a loan deal for James Rodriguez is because they are ready to splash the cash on Pepe.

Pedulla explains the Partenopei have been working on a deal for ‘some time’, even before their interest in James, and have decided to table a bid of €50-55m plus Adam Ounas.

Despite playing very little in his two years at the San Paolo, Ounas has caught the eye during Algeria’s run to the Africa Cup of Nations Final with two goals and two assists.

However, L’Equipe claims Inter, along with Arsenal and Liverpool, have already sent formal offers to Lille.

Nonetheless, the newspaper notes the French club will contact Napoli or Atletico Madrid if Pepe does not want to join any of the aforementioned trio, to see if they are willing to match offers of €80m with bonuses included.

The Ivorian scored 23 goals during a breakout 2018-19 campaign, helping his side finish second in Ligue 1.

While i would love Pepe as a winger, i am afraid he would be underwhelming as one of the two forwards.

Wingers like Pepe would work in a 343 while deploying a defensive minded wing back covering Pepe's side.

Hazard and Willian are wingers and Conte played them both in a 343 with Azpilicueta and Alonso as wing backs, who are good defensively.

Lukaku over Cavani any day of the week for me. And btw, dunno why people are causing so much drama over potential Lukaku signing. I mean, our club has been stacked with garbage players over the past few years and we have failed to attract top quality players, let's stick to reality. We cannot sign Hazards, Griezmanns these days. Maybe in the near future if we keep making progress and grow in term of quality and win trophies.

Azpi didn't play as wing back and also Alonso is poor defensively but very good attacker.

Azpi played as CB, Moses and Alonso played as wingbacks.

If you cannot attract top players, don't waste 80m on a non-top player. How's that for a strategy?

We need a proven striker since there is no turning back for Icardi. You are better than this brehme, today's prices of transfer market are crazy... I mean you pay almost 50m for Barella... I refuse to talk about prices anymore, just give me quality players and play quality football.

Spending our budget on a not so quality player when quality players are available (Milinkovic-Savic, James Rodriguez, even Christian Eriksen) for give or take a similar amount is stupid. Lukaku is not "quality". He's just good. We have enough "good" players and as you said, we need quality. Well, Lukaku isn't it but he's costing us more than "quality" would.

Maybe this gives you a better understanding of why so much drama around this stupid signing.

If ManU had bought Lukaku for, say, 65m two years ago, do you think they'd be asking for 80m from us today? My point is, their 80m asking price is skewed and based solely on the price they paid for him back in 2017 and NOT based on how he performed over the two years at ManU.

And this is exactly the main issue, Lukaku isn't a bad player but he is never worth 80m. So yes we had garbage players over the years, but that doesn't mean we just have to agree with 80m for Lukaku just because Conte wants him. 80m is crazy money even for todays market.

I would settle with Cavani, Belotti(not cheap), Batshuayi, Zapata. For 80m I expect a world class striker who will allmost certainly be a great asset to the team. Every player we linked to has his issues so that why I would like Inter to don't take a huge risk with Lukaku, not only the 80m but also his salary. If Lukaku was a world class striker we wouldn't be the only team interested in him.

I've said it before, I can't believe that a club like Inter is so dependable on coaches for the transfers. I can understand that every coach wants his own players and till a certain degree you should honour that but when there is no consistency in the club you end up every 2 years with players who where desperately wanted by the coach, untill the next comes in who wants to bring in his own players. Same goes for the formation etc. If the coach after Conte comes and wants to change the formation we have to offload and buy players who can fit into that system. It's a vicious circle and with our financial power we should always think twice before we spend this kind of money.

We can see it now with Valero, Vecino and Ninja. We are stuck with these players and this will also happen with Lukaku. If he joins Inter I will support him but I doesn't agree with people who say that because of today market it's okay to pay 80m for a player like Lukaku or wants to know a better option.

Even getting Pinamonti back would be a better solution than to get Lukaku under this terms.

I would take Cavani but sadly i don't think he's realistic. He has massive wages and it doesn't look likely PSG are trying to replace him. There are no rumours linking PSG with another forward so far.

I also love how well we're taking the fact that our best striker is going on a discount to a better team than us that also participates in our league. Be it Napoli or Juventus, the fact is they want this guy whilst we're looking to spend more than we receive and pay him more than we ever offered him for a lesser player. And people are applauding...

Or he'll go to one of our biggest rivals and either kill Napoli's free flowing swift attacks or get in the way of Ronaldo at Juventus. Plus he is terrible in transition as he is not comfortable on the counter

Please. Sarri and Ancelotti aren't stupid. Icardi has over 100 Serie A goals.

I think they can manage. I'd be more worried about Inter and our quest for getting replacement for Icardi.

Lukaku over Cavani any day of the week for me.

I don't think its an argument of whether you would prefer Lukaku or Cavani. Its a question of economics. Its more like whether you would prefer Lukaku+Dzeko+Gagliardini or Cavani+Kean+SMS.

There is no right answer, we all have our opinions, but I would prefer the latter.

Lukaku (80) + Dzeko (15) + Gagliardini (0) = 95
SMS (100) + Kean (40) + Cavani (don't know how much there asking? 20-30?) = 160-170

How is it a choice between A and B?
