Most Passionate MemberThey wanted 50m in the summer. It would be lower in January but my guess is that it's gonna be some loan + obligation deal if we go for it. Maybe 10+30 or something.

I think it may be about right, especially considering that he doesn't play.
One thing for sure, I would take him on option, I am a bit worried about his lack of minutes.
If he is still a player he was last season (or close to it), I do think it would be a very good deal. I find him to be extremely underrated.

Forum Supporter10 years of FIFAouar looks like the real deal, IF we could sign him, that would make our midfield look rather impressive and to be feared by all clubs, in the future anyway, still kind of young, needs experience, but the potential is, well very high

Rakitic could be a good short term solution in January for 1.5 years at most but I wouldn't fall for a loan + buy option now as we'll be stuck with him in his last years and it is unknown whether he can keep it up as he's a player who loves to run a lot and he may not be able to pull it off at the same rate. We already have Brozovic who does similar things. Since neither of the three parties would be down for that kind of deal, I'm guessing a dry loan with perhaps a payment fee involved would be the best case scenario for Rakitic. That way we can evaluate him better in case we want him and we can also focus on other targets since we'll have an idea of what kind of midfielder would make our middle tick the best.
If we're stuck with this 3-5-2 midfield system, then give me someone like Verratti, Aouar, Milinkovic-Savic or even Zielinski. With Thiago Alcantara being the ideal player for this part on paper, but I still prefer someone who can get on the scoresheet if we cannot slot Brozovic further up (in case we end up with a Verratti or Thiago type).
