Valero did really well. Instead of being overrun as I feared, he did what Conte wanted which was to help retain and distribute possession smartly in these dipshit conditions, allowing us to largely keep control.
We got a bit lucky with the Belotti injury but unlucky also with Barella. Hope he's not out for long and that Sensi can stay fit.
No one under performed today, the boys all did their job consummately, including Conte. Fantastic result overall. Finally a clean sheet too.
As others have mentioned, we used to lose games like these. We broke the Sassuolo curse, that too at their home ground. We won at Cagliari which has been a hard ground for us. We beat Toro who we hadn't beat in 5 games, and hadn't won here since 2015.
It's still early days though. I still fear the typical December apocalyptic capitulation and I will live in constant fear of a meltdown at any moment until we get through those moments.
But results like these are great signs and proof we're making real, legitimate progress. Conte deserves massive credit for that; the squad too of course.
