The narrative from the media is Darmian is going to be Ranocchia replacement. In case of a De Vrij absence Skriniar or Godin could play in the middle with one of D'Ambrosio and Darmian as a rcb. I agree if Ranocchia is gone we need a replacement and that replacement certainly isn't Darmian.

It feels like they're trying to save money in every other position in order to make one big signing in midfield. Or we're just broke :lol:

Switching Ranocchia to Darmian does not save money at all. It will cost money to Inter in net. Ranocchia nets 1.5m€ annually. Darmian would net 1.8m€ + annual amortization cost.

So that operation is more about adding a versatile defender to the roster than saving any money.

If we are already getting Kolarov, and we also have D'ambrosio, why get Darmian then? Except if it's not only about Frog but also Godin leaving.

I rate Godin/Frog more than Kolarov/Darmian, but hey that's just me.

Ranocchia going must be him wanting to go to play rather than us pushing him out. Doesn't make much sense otherwise.

UNLESS, we just want to add versatility and multirole players. Ranocchia is basically only De Vrij backup. Darmian can play in several roles and positions in our defence/flanks.

You never know, so need to speculate.

Theres no point having ranocchia really. He's an incapable backup, not gonna develop, and the money we spend on him is better elsewhere. For his career he's better off trying to close with 2 good seasons at someone like genoa imho

Darmian is about the promise, even Parma sporting director said that. I don't even know why people try to rationalize it in relation to rannochia leaving or something else. Probably a leftover promise for some deal we did with parma in recent time. Or with darmian agent who is also bastoni agent aswell.

according to this, Darmian is best-paid player from Parma. He doesn't give too much on the pitch, so it is huge burden for Parma. If there was an agreement between Inter and Parma to take him after season, we would need to either take him or compensate it with giving them some youngsters.

When i say we're saving money i have in mind Inter not signing a Ranocchia replacement and a left wingback because of Darmian versatility.

juve with sky high wage and aging players (and last time i heard dybala asking for 20 millions nett),
or roma jokes of squad with wages nearly as high as us

i hope we can snatch donnarumma from bbilan next year

you should take into consideration that our salaries are growing really fast. We added Eriksen and Young to the list, Sanchez gets 7 mln per year right now, Hakimi has 5 mln.
Here are salaries from 18/19 season:

Perisić, Nainggolan, Dalbert and J.Mario are back and they earn about 13 mln euro. Kolarov and Vidal will get also a lot and Bastoni and Lautaro will have pay rise in coming months.

So it's quite important to get rid players like Asamoah, Vecino, Joao Mario, Perisić, Dalbert and maybe even Godin.

The big takeaway from that list for me is that Gervinho is listed as 'Yao'. I saw that and initially thought 'how in the sweet fuck is our ex-youth defender Yao Guy making 1.3mil at Parma?'
