I am beginning to accept the fact that Inter and Eriksen are not for each other. Both of our goals against Genoa were after Eriksen was subbed out and the goals were meant to be his specialties. First, through ball to Lukaku. Eriksen had an hour and never released any through ball, but Barella just came in and doing what the former should do. Second, corner kick. There is no doubt about his corner's execution and we see how dangerous was his corner delivery. However, none of them amount to goal and we scored corner goal at very first time Brozo took corner.
One reason why Barella managed to nick an assist in his brief appearance while Eriksen didn't was because the former was more daring to attack the center between the line. Eriksen rarely stationed himself at the middle hence we only played negative U-shaped passes around their defence. I imagine our attack was less monotone if Eriksen attacked the center and played quick give-and-go with our two forwards, but that didn't happen. Not sure what's the reason for this, it could be our tactical setup by Conte, it could be Eriksen's preferred playing style, or it could be our players cannot pick an incisive pass to the crowded middle. Regardless of the reason, Eriksen should find solution to not lose in pecking order in his natural position against Barella or Vidal.
