Cannot field 12 players. It's the Saudis, not Agnelli.
Same. Out of the 3 options i would certainly prefer the hybrid model with Fortress. Saudis are an absolute no for me. Even if you turn a blind eye on everything else, we're talking about a state that was rumoured to fund terrorist organizations. Winning ISN'T the only thing that matters. I also have a bad feeling about BhenChod partners. I hope i am wrong.
Suning owning Inter does not mean Chinese state and CCP are sportswashing Chinese state for the world. They tried to penetrate Western markets with this move. And Suning was in it for the money (exposure) in long term.
Saudi sovereign fund is controlled by the state and the fund buying football club has only one purpose: sportswashing.
And like I said earlier, I'm not defending the Chinese ownership. It already feels bad now that Inter has any connection to China. And if Chinese state fund would buy/own Inter, it'd be as repulsive as the Saudi one because the purpose of it would be the same.
But, I already run a scenario in my head that if the Saudi thing went through, how would I have to react. Obviously the answer would eventually be that I would just have to shut it down from my mind because I care about Inter and the football too much to drop that out. I just wouldn't like the situation at all.
I don’t understand why someone with that amount of money would want a minority stake? They can buy and sell Suning 10 times over if they want to
I’m utterly disgusted by Inter fans who want Inter to be associated with the Saudi government. You better start supporting a different team if you have no issues with that. Ew
That's probably because you do not understand what that kind of money is and why people invest their money around. It's not a video game where you just establish your domain and pounce your chest at anyone coming at you. Having money doesn't mean you get to waste it, unless it's personal wealth and you view this as a toy, like Moratti, Berlusconi and later Abramovich or Rybolovev. Investment funds, even sovereign ones, are held accountable. They cannot just do whatever they want because they can afford it. The Arabs that got involved with PSG and Manchester City wanted to flash their money and the royal family structure is less complicated than the Saudi one, so it's more centralized.
Minority stake means that they're there for the growth potential, not the management. It allows you to have a say without being held accountable. And it also gives you an insight of how the thing works before committing fully for it, in case that's your end goal.
Another thing is to manage the risk of the investment.
And in this case, if the Chinese are still around, it gives whomever gets the small seat on the table the access to the Chinese market. For that small risk involved, there's huge upside for this party.
Some Interesting posts here
I will say this, at the end of the day soccer is a sport and its a business so whoever owns the club shouldn't play a part if u have been following the club for a long time or if watching soccer is a passion hobby etc. None of us know the inner workings of any government or corporation until hard evidence comes out and even so not EVERYONE is involved in said matter. Ur not knowingly supporting anything malicious as u are not part of it.
These posts are trying to paint a better picture [even if they are not defending] that the current ownership is better than the Saudis and one post from Cafe gave the exact reasons that would make Saudis invest in Inter and for Drago it would be a no because of rumors of state funded Terrorism, really?
At the end of the day you have FIFA, UEFA, Lega Calcio and other governing bodies that should legally look into these matters and last i checked the United Nations and the ICC look into criminal activity done by states. You can get a private company that buys Inter and look like saints but they also run a human trafficking operation for all we know.
Makes me think Moratti should have taken Inter Public.

That's the difference. We don't know if our Chinese owners are involved in illegal activities or not. They may be, they may be not. But in the case of Saudis we know. We know they're involved in Khashoggi's murder and they have funded islamic extremism. You may be ok with it but i am not.
I'd much rather be associated with the Saudis than with the Chinese.
The Communist government of China is one of the worst scourges the world have ever seen, easily much worse than Nazi Germany and any Chinese company is intrinsically associated with that government, hence why Zhang Sr. is a higher up in the party and why the government bought that 20% of Suning.com to give the Zhangs some much needed liquidity.

Most western governments are involved with the Saudis already either by way of sovereign wealth fund or some other business interest. Last time I checked only Canada has taken a stance against Saudi government and we’re not backed for it.

Unfortunately for you the Chinese Communist Party has completely infiltrated your Liberal Party on the federal level and owns most of the local politicians perticularly in British Columbia. Your government is a complete joke with regards to standing up for its citizens, its national sovereignty and standing up against the CCP.
A BC Partners deal this month would be a huge sigh of relief. I've checked their portfolio and I've personally seen how some of their brands have grown here where I live these past few years, so I'm not worried. They just need to treat us like the big club we are and not think of us as a club like Atalanta, Ajax, or even Arsenal.
