Maldini : " I only found out on sunday night, the club didnt tell me anything"

Ok Paolo.:work:
I believe it to a certain extent. The fact that the announcement was rumored hours before it happened, and not days, is proof that they were really tight-lipped on this.

When it comes to Milan, I can buy that. The Americans are acting on their own.

Zanetti not knowing on the other hand is farfetched. I don't think Zhang Senior took this decision himself, Agnelli talks with Marotta anyway and knows he's the designated advisor to the Zhangs here. And Marotta won't hide something this big from the other Inter officials imo, way too big for that.
With Zanetti, I just don't think he expected it as much as anyone else did. It's like knowing something's there but probably won't happen and then you wake up one day and it's done. Don't think it was up to him to say much, but should have expressed disagreement in the preliminary stages.

Good riddance. The last thing I wanna do is to be involved in a competition where Juventus run the show.

According to Sky Sports reports, punitive actions against the breakaway clubs is a nonstarter ex. Point deductions. The EPL "remainers" are targeting individuals at each club, stripping them of governing board postions, fines etc.

This is bullshit. Serie A is a national league, the other is international. They're two entirely different competitions that ideally should have no relation to one another. Internationally Inter/Milan/Juventus pull almost all the attention. No one cares about Crotone or Benevento.

It's one thing having the old style "European Cup" where only the champions fight. Having the "Top 4" was always a money grab (and cannibalised the UEFA Cup as a consequence). The Champions League is no more moral than the Super League.

Exactly! Bring back the European Cup, UEFA Cup and Cup Winner's Cup.

Gravina, FIGC president, said there will be no sanctions against Italian members of ESL as you can't punish an idea that didn't materialize.

Pretty much sums up what we’ve all been thinking over the past couple of days.

You can’t punish something which isn’t illegal and is only an idea which hasn’t been acted on.

Announcing something which is highly unpopular though does damage relations but that’s about it.

Juve could put out a statement saying they were gonn fix every match between now anad the endd of the season. You only get penaalisedd for actions.

Can't remember Milan pulling much attention internationally in the last years. I think you meant Atalanta or Roma.

Have you ever seen that episode of Seinfeld where George Costanza storms out of a meeting with NBC executives saying he’s not going to compromise his artistic integrity?

And then Jerry later tells him “Artistic integrity? Where do you come up with this stuff? You’re not artistic and you have no integrity.” Football fans reminded me exactly of that.

What does this mean exactly?

What? So the whole time that we were fighting to get back into the top 3 or 4, you were stewing that this shouldn't have to be the way?

When has qualification to European competition not depended on your league position or domestic cups? (With the exception of winning CL or EL.) There's always been a relation between domestic and int'l in living memory. You've had a problem with this entire concept?

Having UCL depend on previous year's domestic competition is like using EUROs to qualify for the World Cup. They're 2 completely different tournaments and Serie A will exist regardless of what happens in Europe. Using berths is just a way to limit the number of entrants because you can't have 100 teams in one competition.

UEFA wants the "big teams" in the Champions League because it's good for their pockets. Don't kid yourself. They carved the UEFA Cup open and made that shitstain of Europa League just to make a super league. Now they're using "historic qualification" to essentially do a more mild version of ESL. At the end of the day there are way more people internationally that want to see an 8th placed Inter or Milan over 4th placed Atalanta or Fiorentina. If clubs want to form their own international competition it is entirely within their right because they're capitalizing on their own brand.

Romano mentioned in his podcast that decision was in high level, owner, chairman and president. Others may know about project but not involve hence I'm not surprised when Maldini didn't know

Wtf

At this point just genuinely hope that you are from Brazil and you can't understand the European concept and football culture in general.
