He will be leaving this summer for SMS to come. While the team celebrates scudetti he takes the chance to celebrate departure.

Watch us offer Eriksen for Spinazzola.

He only won 3 league titles, 1 national cup and 1 supercup when he played for Ajax. I know everyone calls it the Micky Mouse league but still.

And the other leagues arent? haha

It will be interesting to see if Eriksen will remain after this summer.

I believe he has rejuvenated enough (+ his history) to maybe catch a rich team if the transfer fee is low enough ( from what i know, he probably wont want to go back to the epl though), then they might match his wages.

Would it be clever? I read an italian article that pointed out that Eriksen is the most improved player after the winter break after where he was, unexpectedly, giving a new chance. Initially as a Brozovic replacement, but eventually as LCM. The article highlights that the probability of Eriksen to keep improving in his role is very high.

If Brozovic is sold, which i believe will happen, or else he would had gotten a new contract years earlier. We tried to swap him for Parades before the beginning of this season as well. Now he won a scudetto here and has one year left. It makes for him to leave, but who knows. Eriksen-Real DM-Barella would work, more freedom for eriksen and barella.

I think Contes headache in midfield is that he wants/wanted to emulate his Rubentus team. But Brozovic will never be pirlo, Eriksen will never be Pogba (though he is basically being Marchisio), Barella could very well be Vidal.

Alot of people here like De Paul and he is a good player, but i dont think he fits Contes ideal midfield tbh, its too rigid.

So there are 3 scenarios 1. Conte goes to demand a real DMC (kante?) and sticks with eriksen and barella and Brozovic will leave, 2. Brozo gets a new contract and stays DLP, Eriksen is sold and a new LM is made. 3. Brozo is sold, Eriksen is slotted into the dlp role and a new 'heavier' LM is signed.

Either way, im sure one of Eriksen and Brozovic will leave this summer. Just my thoughts will be interesting to see what happens.

I suspect Brozovic. He'll be higher value, and more amortised = overall more plusvalenza. Eriksen has more potential, and to be honest, is a better player than Brozovic, even now (IMHO). Brozovic has hit his ceiling.

I said a while ago, we dont really need two somewhat similar players in Brozovic/Eriksen, it does make sense for us to get rid of one of them.

I dont think we'd make a profit on Eriksen, and whilst salary savings are attractive, he's got a lot more to offer, and we need plusvalenza really

Fundamentally, I think you're right - Brozo's renewal doesnt seem too heavily discussed lately (there is some convo), but nowhere near the same lelvel as barella/bastoni/lautaro. If he was going to stay, we'd have renewedd by now or be quite actively sorting it

Thing is Brozovic and Eriksen are not similar players. Eriksen is primarily LCM while Brozovic is DM in our system. I REALLY doubt Conte would go with Eriksen as the starting DM (as the regista) to the next season. If we sell Brozovic, we are going to go for a new DM.

Brozovic is definitely more sellable than Eriksen. Because of the last year of the contract and the wage difference.

Maybe not in position, but in terms of what they contribute to the team. Both of them offer high quality passing as a primary function - though Eriksen, IMHO, is far better at attacking distribution, whereas Brozovic is often quite a sideways passer. He's got a bit more dynamicism at moving the ball up the field, but we also have Barella for that.

Not saying Kante is a realistic target, but I think Eriksen-Barella-Kante is far stronger than Brozovic-Barella-Kante.

IMHO, for us to get a better midfield, the Eriksen-Brozovic role needs to be combined into one player

The interesting thing is even though there are no news about Brozovic extension we aren't linked with any DLP. You would expect to read rumours about Locatelli or even Conte's favorite target, Kante. Instead there are rumours about De Paul and SMS, two mezzali.

How I still wish, we mostly play with a back 4, which would mean one extra midfielder. Ah well!!

Wouldnt necessarily read too much into the rumours yet tbh. As we know with e.g. Hakimi, business might be secretive. SMS and De Paul have been media favourites for a while for Inter.

Lets see what happens.

It's important to note Kante is not a DLP nor is he an adequate replacement for Brozovic, unless we're going to dictate from the LCM / Eriksen position. Barella + Kante would certainly afford Eriksen a free roaming role like he did playing alongside Wanyama and Sissoko. But that only works if Eriksen is super consistent (which he hasn't been for years) because the defending team just has to press and mark Eriksen out of the game (which to be honest isn't terribly difficult) and we have zero creative outlet.

In fact that's why Jorginho struggled so much at in his debut season at Chelsea, he had no one to pass/create with and was pressed relentlessly until possession was lost.

Romano - Christian Eriksen to Gazzetta: "I'm so happy with Antonio Conte now, 6 months ago I had chances to leave the club but everything has changed... and I want to stay. I don't know if Conte is staying at Inter or not, it's up to him and to the club, they'll decide together".

Our 'extra' midfielders are de Vrij and Lautaro, the team is well balanced already, no point trying to fit in another mid.

Good discussion above.

The thing that our midfield is lacking today is someone who can take on players and add that extra bit of flair. Sensi could do if he is able to play consistently. That's what someone like De Paul and SMS can do, although they have very different characteristics.

But getting them poses another problem for the midfield. Barella is going to our first choice starter. And that is justified, he very well rounded and adds so much that you cannot leave him behind. Kind of like Seedorf was a well rounded midfielder for Ancelotti, who fit in with the highly specialised and narrow skills that each of Pirlo, Gattuso, Rui Costa or Kaka got.

- Now SMS/De Paul - Barella - Eriksen midfield does not provide enough cover.
- Put Brozovic instead of Eriksen, and it works great. But does that mean Eriksen gets benched again? That's too expensive an option if he isn't playing regularly.
- If we get a great DM (Kante is impossible), then we can play Barella - DM - Eriksen. But that still misses the extra flair we need.
- But getting a DM as well as SMS/De Paul is not what our budget allows. Unless both Eriksen and Brozovic are sold. And that is a mini rebuilding in itself.

The best option is change our formation and accommodate 4 midfielders there. With Barella - Brozovic - Eriksen/Sensi - De Paul, we get everything. What we lose out is width. That's something the coach can work on. There are enough examples of coaches doing different things like playing without a striker, or Simeone's flat 4 midfield that doesn't have 2 wingers, to playing Pogba (or Eriksen at Spurs) as a winger, etc. With more options, we can be more flexible.
