I understand the management wanting to have atleast 1 fully experienced ( I mean not wheelchair old like Dzeko) to back up our forward youngsters and starting duos. Lukaku needs to be replaced with another experienced figure . And then sign his understudy Scamacca, Vlaho etc so you'll have experience&youth ( Lautaro ~ Sanchez subs)

Dzeko had 1 last year @7.5M net , we are probably giving Roma his "golden handshake' that 3M ( they give it to Dzeko to free him up) thats why we can offer him 4M net for 2 years. Roma pays our 3M to Dzeko and loses his huge last year wage 15M.

4M per year Dzeko is a ok stopgap for Lukaku. But damn. He scored 7g last season.

I don't even mind Dzeko being a 3rd/4th striker to be honest. I think he will do just fine in that role. But the numbers don't add up. I surely hope it's 4m base salary with 2m bonuses and those bonuses include like winning Scudetto and such.

This just feels like a Kolarov for the front line. This dude can’t realistically move the needle at this point. He’s a good locker room presence and the others can probably learn a trick or two from playing with him and how he carries himself as a professional. If we have an injury to Lautaro or whoever the other person is we are bringing as the starter we are in trouble.

An older injury prone Alexis and rapidly declining Edin Dzeko can’t realistically play more then a match a week.

I don't feel Kolarov in this transfer, apart from the costs (relatively). I feel Dzeko still has what it takes to play as the target guy for Inter. Lautaro is the go-to guy now, Dzeko is the supporting act. Just trap the ball, dish it to others. Dzeko is actually pretty fucking good at that. In Roma he was the go-to guy for years and last season it started to become hard as he's indeed getting old and can't carry all that stuff alone. And he didn't have good players around him in attack as Zaniolo missed the whole season. Mhiki faded away at some point.

Also Kolarov didn't play for Inter hardly at all after the start of the season when Bastoni was out due to COVID.

I dont mind Dzeko either but why are we paying any fee for him? It's on Roma to agree a golden handshake with him, or get stuck with his 7.5m wage. We should be able to get him on a 9G type of deal that Cagliari are trying to do.

Exactly. They are trying to find a lot better player to replace him so it's just all about the salary. I can guess it's related to the book value of Dzeko, we pay to Roma for how much he's worth in their books.

I just hope the 6m€ net rumored is heavily bonus-based.

He can't be as bad as Kolarov simply because Kolarov wasn't even a cb in the first place. It was an illusion of Conte a position switch for Kolarov at the age of 35 could actually work. At least Dzeko is a forward.

The success of this transfer will depend on what they expect from Dzeko. If he's coming as a backup forward, he's going to be decent for us. But if he's coming as a starter to play alongside Lautaro, then this move is doomed to fail.

Maybe I'm stuck in the past but I don't think this would be a bad move if Inzaghi is on board.

You can't expect heroics from him at this stage in his career, but he would be a useful, solid addition as a rotation player. Depends on the wages in the end. Seems a very Marotta-esque transfer, and I don't mean that in any sort of negative way.

But he cannot be the only forward we sign to replace the Lukaku void.

Dzeko would be a decent signing. apart from the salary, i dont get the hate here. i would expect more team goals especially from midfield area and Lautaro as the focal point next season. also we desperately need one more striker with good technical ability. let Satriano go on loan and find experience.
