Usual Handa performance? This was pretty unusual in his standard in the current season.

I'm quite upset because he's definitely had an uptick in form this season, but that second goal is embarassing really. 3 shots on target, 2 goals. Maignan was doing miracles on the other side.

People forget his miracle was against Atalanta, this second goal clearly team fault, especially DeVrij.

One fault followed by another, Alexis, DeVrij, then Handa. It's different than Karius fault.

What miracles was Maignan doing exactly?
One deflected shot that was always in his sight and ended up at his palm? Decent reflex save but that's it.
Rushing out? Almost failed there and even did a theatrical to win a foul that even this cunt of a ref didn't buy!

All the other shots were right at him with the exception of maybe one. Handanovic also had a good stop in the first half.

First goal should never count but there wasn't much that could be done.
Second shot could have been a much better save, but there was a save there, just not strong enough to parry a strong shot. The main problem there is letting the striker shoot, expecting the goalkeeper to save everything that goes toward the goal and exaggerating when it doesn't happen all the time is not normal.

The biggest mistake Handanovic did was when he was too late to clear the ball from the area and pressure was on him. The shot could have been saved and it's a shame, but let's not pretend as if 30% of our goals weren't scored in a similar way either...

This one was within a foot of him and he still doesn't save it.

Dr vrij shouldn't have got turned so easily, but when that happens that's when you need your goalkeeper to do his job. Really disappointed in him tonight. Shocking stuff.

So Handa should have done better on that one shot and Onana is having a series of "stellar" performaces. At least Inter has the goalkeeper situation sorted for next season.

I have not thought about his attempt to save the second shot.

I still can not get over the clearances which gifted Milan possession and allowed them to keep attacking us.

He could have done better in the first goal also. Instead of standing like a statue as he always, he could have leaped so Giroud would have less space to score. This are the moments when you see the difference between great and average players.

Second goal was on him but there was nothing he could do in the first one. Goes to show how people find reasons to hate on a player.

I wrote perfectly what he could have done, i dont write things just because i "hate players" for simple reason - i dont hate Inter players.

First goal is on Sanchez not handa. Second on handa and de vrij.

The Giroud goal was from a deflected loose ball that had Tonali in position to shoot but missed it (due to the deflection) and Giroud just pounced on it. It was completely unexpected and the keeper was anticipating the first player to go for it


I love how people are talking big about Maignan. All he did was stay in position to have Dumfries shot right at him and make a needless acrobatic to stop a deflection that he had proper sight of throughout the shot and the only thing he had to do was not move his hand to stop the ball and did exactly that.


In fact the best stop in the game was made by Handanovic against a Tonali shot just before our goal... First time shot from long distance with 6 players obstructing the view of the shot and 2 additional obstructing the ball's trajectory... But yeah, he sucks because Giroud tackled the ball from the far post with 4 Milan players free in the box and Skriniar failing to reach it after a Diaz shot that was deflected by Bastoni, and because De Vrij was outplayed and the power shot he actually parried went in rather than out...

Now the only way to stop that particular shot was to dive in after seeing Tonali's leg stuck out but that would probably take the ball closer to where Handa is rather than the close angle.
And this is all happening in split seconds. Giroud seems an unlikely recipient there:

Now, please elaborate when and where you wanted Handanovic to move.

As for "super" Maignan, this was his best save...

Clear sight of the ball from the get go.




Sticks his arm out in a natural position (notice where the elbow and shoulder are, as well as his body direction shifting towards the ball)


15 centimeters to the picture's right and Maignan never saves this.


Only reason it looked spectacular was because he adjusted his body to get his palm on the ball when it was moving downwards. And because he was grounded after this, apparently this "sells".



Yet you have this save that no one mentions and pretends that never happened, either because gold fish memory wiped it out since it was a double chance, or because they're hating, or because we lost and it's irrelevant at the end of the day:



Tonali gets the ball and no one in their right mind should expect a shot, yet it happens.

You can see 6 players between Handanovic's sight of the ball. He's even moving further to his left, so further away from where the shot goes.

Shot fired, and I froze it at the moment that the keeper has a clear indication of where the ball is going, without inteference in his sight:




Still did not jump as you can see and a rocket of a shot is coming his way, already half way through its path.

If the bodies were closer to the goalkeeper the reaction would have much different and it'd be 0-1 for Milan there.

You cannot expect goalkeepers to stop every shot and you cannot praise them for saving a shot that everyone's supposed to save, like the Dumfries one. Be reasonable.

i only know that Handa was and is a better goalkeeper than several names you guys mention here.

first goals should be disallowed due to foul on Sanchez. yes, that 2nd goal Handa could have done better. but, he doesnt cost us the game. it's on Inzaghi tbh

Second goal could be dealt with better collectively and yes it partly falls on Handanovic's failure to parry the ball outside, but De Vrij was schooled there with a first touch in the box and it was a free shot for a very good finisher. Odds of anyone saving those are minimal and the only reason Handa is hated on is because he got a touch to it and it's assumed to be a bad one... Was more unlucky than a bad effort. If luck was our side, the ball would have went further wide and out. But it is what it is.

At the end of the day our defense leaked two goals out of thin air and people request for a scapegoat and who better than their favorite one!
