For you guys who already gave up on Thuram after 3 preseason matches, are you oblivious about how our forward mercato is going? Not saying I rate Thuram already but it's way way too early to judge him given that he's free.

I think that's part of the reason people are freaking out. If we had locked up Lukaku, Balogun, or Scamacca there wouldn't be so much anxiousness about our attack.

i am judging him from the previous seasons in Germany. And he was not a great striker even there, where the defense is pretty bad a lot of times... So if anyone expects anything more than 10 goals, i feel sorry for you. He should be fine as a second striker, but idk if that will work in our system.

Well, we didn't so we should be at least slightly relieved that we have a prospect in him. Just listened to you guys' podcast and it's depressing whom we are linked to.

Apparently last year was his first time being a striker, so I'm not gonna write him off without seeing him playing 10 official games. You post shitload of rumours here so tell me who we can get better than him for 9m yearly cost.

Arnautovic.

I am not writing him of as well, but i think he will have to score more than before and by the looks of it, it seems like he still is not in front of the goal a lot... this also makes him similar to Correa, which aint that great, caue we need finishers.

Milan fan here. Not here to gloat or anything. But I was so damned relieved that we didn't get him because from what I've seen he just doesn't seem to be a goal scorer. He really reminds me of Origi, someone who can link up well with others and drift deep and wide. But a scorer?? Never in a million years. His stats show that blatantly. I've watched him play as well and I just didn't see how he'd fit at Milan OR AT INTER. Very weird signing.

If he gives us ten goals, like he managed in the Bundesliga last year, we'll be fine.

As I said, I'm giving him at least 10 consistent games to actually judge his performance.

My comment was directed to people who's already written him off based on 3 fucking preseason games.

If you think Arnautovic is better than him then you do you, you are entitled to your own opinion.

Apparently he was top scorer for non-penalty goals in Germany last season, which is pretty good. Not sure about defenses in Germany, but he had the same amount of non-penalty goals as Kolo Muani, who is apparently rated as a 100 million player.

Also, top scorer in Germany last season only had 16 goals, which is a bit surprising. Not saying that Thuram is a great scorer, but 13 goals in 30 matches isn't too bad.

Anyone who follows the German league knows why top scorer has a 'low' amount of goals? I know Lewandowski and Haaland left, but previous seasons had guys like Weghorst and Kramaric scoring 20.

He had 13 in Bundesliga last year in 30 matches. Also, last year our second top scorer was Lukaku with 10. Ideally, we'd need Arnautovic/Thuram/Correa to at least equal the non-Lautaro striker output last season which was 22 goals last season (Lukaku 10, Dzeko 9, Correa 3)

Not the most auspicious beginning in the two matches I watched. Appeared more interested in passing than taking shots, maybe just getting use to his teamates and Inzaghi's tactics. Let's wait until the winter break before we start passing judgments.

I think he needs just time to adjust. Inzaghi is totally different quality than Farke ever will be ( last seasons BMG coach) . Not to mention tactics, new tasks, new roles on the pitch. It all takes time.

Now that you came here , watch him scoring in the derby. When milanisti start to brag they usually are brought back to earth, has happened every year. I don't want to even imagine what Meelan Reggae forum's delusion levels are right now as I havent read it in almost 2 months. Maybe you can give a few insights how the mood is there :D

Thanks for the jinx, let's hope for 30 goals now

Yeah, Inter mostly went for him because he was free.

Thuram is not too bad. Certainly, better player than Correa. He just need to find common lingo with Lautaro and do things faster, move faster. His passing is not that bad.

Simple... theres a CF striker shortage and the quality is generally poor. From all time flops (werner, Andre silva, malen) to bliga 2 level strikers (Fulkrug) to injuries (mane, haller, nkunku) then you have a lot converted former wingers (thuram, gnabry, meaning, lukebakio), it should come as no surprise.

It's problem across all leagues not just Bliga. By the time Rashford and Lautoro are considered elite strikers you realize how low the bar is.

The cost is AFAIK just 7.9M per year.

Werner won the CL and got out of Chelsea. Sure, Werner is not a prolific goalscorer, but he isn't close to an all time flop. Now Lukaku at Chelsea can be called an all time flop..

If Inter were indeed creating so many chances that even Lautaro scored 21 goals (as people told me in Lautaro's thread), I expect Thuram to score at least 15 goals in SA alone. There's just no reason that he should score less than last year at BMG.

Right now the problem with Thuram is he's completely out of sync with Lautaro. He literally doesn't know when to run behind the line and when to stay back to link up. Hope that will improve as the season goes. At least his technical and physical fundamentals are solid.
