I really hope to see this line-up. If Mourinho decides to play Muntari then I will change the channel and watch something else, cuz Muntari will screw up every pass he gets and will not get a hold of the ball even for 5 seconds.

Well, lonewolf's formation is pretty good, but I would play a bit different in the attack, like this:

The 4-2-3-1 wouldn't work for two reasons imo, the two holding midfielders will be too far from Sneijder and co and can't really feed them the ball so if a physical team like Chelsea presses them they will definitely succumb and the whole team will be pulled back. Also another problem will be the flanks, you need two horses on the left and right, Eto'o may be one but Pandev and Balotelli don't really track back as often as one likes. Even though on paper I agree it looks the best when it comes to practicality I don't see it working out for us. Against Rubin if you remember we did play 4-2-3-1 but in the first half hour we were being dominated and we needed magic from Zanetti and Balotelli to win the game it's not as if we set the world on fire. We should stick to the 4-3-1-2 where we close down well, we play our short passing play and be very effective on our counters.

Yeah good point. The distances stretches too much with 4-2-3-1 with offensive players becoming too isolated and defensive unit staying back. Inter have to try to play as one unit where everyone moves as the ball moves. When we attack, the whole team moves forward, when we defend, the whole team moves backward. Stay compact, keep it tight. There are problems also with distances with 4-3-1-2 but not at the same extent as with 4-2-3-1.

It's all about the support to the offensive unit, like it's been discussed since Mourinho came and deployed the infamous 4-3-3.

I agree 100 %, we havent got time to try something new either, we should stick with our 4-3-1-2, against a team like Chelsea, who are as fast as snails, this should be optimum.

That eleven is what I'm hoping for, but Mou will probably field Eto'o and Muntari at the expense of Pandev and Motta/Stankovic.

Btw, to all you Cambiasso-haters, I remember he being the one truly good player against Liverpool. He was also great against Man U.

4231 can work if defensive line is enough up and the team-lines are enough close to each other. mainly in the midfield (Stanko-Cambi-Sneijder, Etoo and Pandev on the wing move back enough)

If Chelsea play defensive and play on counter attack, think they are good at that tactic? never really seen them play the way gazzetta reports them to play..

p.s i hope maicon has a good game because recently he has bee below par. considering chelsea's left hand side is in tatters , if maicon has a good game where he diver up the right hand side then i can see him causing chelsea all sorts of problems!

The key thing is not the formation so much as how well the players play..

If our players perform well enough, we could win with a 3-5-2 for example.
Obviously I'm not suggesting that formation is unimportant.

My key point is that our players need to feel comfortable in the formation Mou chooses.

I don't feel the 4-2-3-1 makes the most of what we have at our disposal. Eto'o is wasted on the wing (as is Balotelli for that matter), 2 CMF may stretch us too thinly.

I'm 50/50 for 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-1-2. It's a toss of the coin for me, I cant even guess which of the 2 Mou will choose.
