Imagine we have vidal and guaren from begining of season and etoo still with us

If our managment is so attached to deki and cambiso - we would not have lost our physical aspects but ... we have to suffer s always as inter supporters it is never easy for us

Rubentus first team ( one paper ) are much worth players then we have. The only players that are good, is Buffon Pirlo and VIdal, rest are avarage

Yeah Didi your right and sorry to say but Deki and Cambiaso are to old they cant ( dont have the legs to run all time every 3 day. But yes i can imagen Vidal and Guaren are the type of players that can create something good and new. They are a bit deferent type of players but stil this kind of midfield are good. AS well we have to consider the game always change football philosophy changes all the time so players have to adapt, and the old players we have now arnt going to change anymore.

Whoever said before this game Ranocchia should be played at CB should be shot. I knew he was shit, most of us knew he was shit, he played, he was shit. Is anyone surprised? I hope not. We seem to buy 50% of our players from Genoa, considering how average they usually are this maybe isn't such a great policy. Although I suppose nabbing Miguel Veloso from them wouldn't be so bad.

Basically, fuck Ranocchia, he's shite. I'd rather have Lucio thinking he's a CAM than Ranocchia anywhere on the pitch.
You forget that Lucio cost us 2 goals last game (and the sending off of JC)!

Horrible situation.

I still think that we need to use at the very least both Guarin and Poli. Whether it is Stankovic or Cambiasso coming out is a matter of defence, as far as I'm concenrned I wouldn't be too bothered if we took both of them out and put in Alvarez or Sneijder for a 4-2-3-1. Or even Obi for 4-3-3.

Cambi and Deki just don't get close enough to the players, hence we end up with constantly being outnumbered in defence against attackers and this is why people find it so easy to pass through our team and dribble through.

They are 2-3 steps behind even quite average speed 25-29 year old players, let alone someone more skillful. The training games where they are impressing Strama is probably played on a much tinier pitch with possibly not as agressive playing (both in terms of pressing as well as in tempo of what the ball is moved at) as after all it is training. Bambi at least scored a goal today, but still, our overall display was poor and for me, most likely thing at fault for such averageness is the midfield who fails to control the game.

Your right. As i told before we are losing games because of Midfield. Yes we have old players ( way to many if you asked me ) but if you dont have speed in the midfield( aka Stamina ) then you will lose a game(s). and that is what happens every game. I dont wanna see Deki and Cambiaso play togather. They are both old and as you told the other teams over run our defense because of that.

Ah, ok in terms of strategy I tend to agree because we really don't have the personell to be effective in a 4-3-3 but i believe that has less to do with the attackers and more to do with 3 mids and they had already proven they were struggling to connect when there were 4 of them in a 44-2 or 5 of them in a 4-2-3-1...

Coming off scoring five last game too two this game isn't really showing much, great teams struggle to score even two goals under certain circumstances... I would like to know what you think we should do with our current players, not condescending, honestly asking because i enjoy discussing strategy. Cheers!

---------- Post added at 12:56 ---------- Previous post was at 12:54 ----------

And as far as attackers not being seen, some of that has to do with getting used to the style and the fact that you can't see three strikers being effective all of the time, it doesn't work that way. especially when the midfield isn't distributing evenly to the attack.. they were struggling for opportunities and i believe they capitalized fairly well..

Oh God. I have written so long then disappeared when I clicked reply.

1. Zarate needs to play as a supplier more than a scorer. We've seen when he starts passing the ball around instead of dribbling thru players, he creates more. He might be the only 1 or just one of few from our squad who can dribble thru players, but passing 1-2 defenders is not always the best option. If he can keep playing by creating more chances for goals, he would be a useful player.
2. Forlan needs to get up from his lazy ass. He didn't seem to want win or to feel proud with our colour. He is lack of desire to fight. He was invisible once again until he did the cross to Cuchu. but, that's the only thing he did today. He must also start playing with the team, not standing where he is and waiting for free ball.
3. Zarate-Forlan need to start playing together. 1 on the left and 1 on the right doesn't mean 'do your ouwn thing'. They need to work as 1 unit to attack with Milito. Pazzo is a hopeless thing now.
4. Midfield problem is the biggest problem but it's easier to solve. Stram just needs to play Cuchu where he plays best, DM. Cuchu plays as a DM means we have 2 defence line. First is the DM and then the CBs. This is the problem for our defence, we don't play a proper DM anymore. Fuck modern football, we won treble without modern football.
5. Lucio/Rano need to stop doing overlap. Their overlap more often cost us a goal and making 1. However, this is the problem playing without a real proper DM, our CBs need to cover the DM post sometimes because they are often exposed when we're attacked. The backbone of our treble winner team was 2 CBs stay behind the center line and a DM stays in front of 2 CBs. Lucio was not happy with Mou for this but we won everything with that formation. Because, without DM, CBs go high line, then when they fail to stop opponent play, we're screwed. When these happen, GK needs to step up, but GK can't stop evrything by himself. This has cost us JC red card and today's second goal. I believe in the last 2 years the reason our defense has been very poor is because we have lost what I used to call 'double-chain defence' where DM and CBs cover each other.
6. Stramaccioni problem is very similar to Leonardo's. Both of them played Cuchu too high. Stram needs to return Cuchu to DM and ask him to anchor that post, then Poli plays where Cuchu plays in the last 2 games. The other CM post should be a competition between Deki and Guarin. I'd prefer Poli-Cuchu-Guarin combination. However, I'm not sure yet if Guarin is a starter. He seemed lost in the game today. I won't consider Obi as a starter yet, he is often reckless in making decision.
7. We need to learn again how to play what we were born and famous to play: lesson 101 catenaccio.

In summary, ask CBs to stay back and don't cross the center line, ask Cuchu to play DM and plays Poli-Guarin/Deki as CM, lastly attack as a unit.

We could just as easily blame this loss on the defense, we scored two goals, that should be enough to win a game.

Not saying our defense was good but that should be Cagliari's speech.
Were we ever leading the score in this game?

Nope. We've only managed to equalize twice within a minute or something.

Thanks, I know.
I was answering to Forzaforlan who says that we scoring twice should be enough to win a game.
We were never winning. Our attack should be blamed more than our defense, with one man extra we couldn't properly score nor even create decent chances.

We can only revert to old system for so long.

1. Pretty obvious that Cambiasso has been on the decline, much slower in getting to the player on the ball, and offers little to no pressing. Highly unlikely we will get another Cambiasso to suit this tactics of ours.

2. We are without the likes of Eto'o, Balotelli to hit our opponents on the break, we are much slower on the break now, and with players like Zarate, whom often makes poor decision in transitioning the play, does not fit in our style. The same goes for Alvarez.

3. Decline of our defenders, and the incompetence of our youth defenders. Poor positioning and consistency from the likes of Ranocchia and Nagatomo, would destroy our tactics with their individual errors.

4. Departure of Thiago Motta, we are without a midfielder who can press and win the ball and send clear forward passes to launch a counter, Stankovic just doesn't have the same quality in spotting people and make accurate and quick forward passes.

In essence, we can hardly revert back to our old strategy and expect miracles to happen, when in fact we were the ones who dismantled the entire system of ours. People have to realize, it's time to move forward and not get stuck with the past.

Replacing players is not like changing clothes. We can't just sell the whole team and buy a whole new team. Moving forward is one thing but keeping the team competitive with the players we have is another thing. We have to develop on one side, but we have to play with the right tactics with the players we have is also important.

Cuchu is on decline but he was one of the best on the field in the last 2 matches tbh.

I'd rather start a player who fucks up massively once in a while than one that plays like crap every time he sets foot on the pitch...

I hate when that happens :)..
1) yes, agree
2) mostly agree, his heart seems to change mid game, sometimes he cares, sometimes he doesn't.. but he has been playing defense while zarate usually doesn't.
3)agree
4) yes, i feel like we are still missing a link there that none of them can fill and our young players aren't good enough/experienced enough to fill yet
5)also agree, you can always tell when they will have an effective counter as soon as you see rano/lucio up in the box flopping or flailing
6) I don't mind him going up as long as the CB's stay put and one of the other mid's drop off, how zanetti used to do when they would play together..

Correct, scoring twice should be enough to win a game, not this game obviously, but next week we should focus on not giving up more than one goal, how many weeks has it been. The rest will fall in place.

lol if we only had sold sneijder instead of eto'o... i think the only reason why we didnt pick up vidal at the time was his wage demands. still retarded as fuck tho, vidal is proving to be world class yet again here in italy, and yes i really mean worldclass. he is one of the main reasons why juve plays so well lately. constant pression on the opponents and providing space for pirlo, winning balls, assists he does it all.

When did I say we should change the entire team? We need to impose new ideas that could fit in the new players, because they just don't fit into that system we played several years ago, that includes Poli, Obi, Guarin, Pazzini, Zarate, Forlan, etc...

It seems like you didn't really get the main point from my post. I have already explained why changing back to our old tactics wouldn't necessarily work, because half of the very core players we used in those tactics are gone already, so this fitting the right tactics to the players we have is completely rubbish. The only player you are trying to fit in is Cambiasso.

Therefore reverting back is not THE solution, it might improve our defence in short term, but it won't necessarily makes us competitive in long term again.

Well, that point about the whole team is of course exaggerative . But, defensively, the core players are still playing. We still have the exact players that formed our great defence. I refuse to believe defence that was so great 2 years ago can be so lame now. I think that's because we have changed our defence tactic. In primavera, they play the way we played in treble season, why can't we use that tactic? That treble winning defence is still the best way to defend until today tbh. I'm not trying to fit Cambiasso in, but I'm trying to fit the role of proper DM who plays as an anchor. We certainly have some players who can play in the position needed from the primavera, for example, Duncan. He is very similar to Cambiasso. Crisetig can also play like Cambiasso. These days in football, players are developed unlike old days when you need natural talent. You are right that it won't be for a long term, but it's NOT all about long term as I said. It's also about making the team stays competitive. For the time being we need to stop leaking in our defence. Then we can develop from there. In defence, I think you need the core system very strong first before you decide who to play, while for attack you can be a bit loose bcs you need attacking players to play with creativity and full to their skills. That's my opinion. So far we have 5 coaches who tried to implement new defence system and all 5 have leaking defensive line.

On the other side, I agree with you that the attacking part needs new invention based on the players ability.

I realized that we have to change. The changes Inter is about to do is going to take some time. Before the match was started i was scared and afraid that we gonna lose this match, but we didnt. The best part i liked about this game was how well Some of the inter players fight back after we were behind( both times). Then i realized if this was CR we would have lost 2-0. The best players i did see on the pitch was JZ Cambiaso Milito and even Zarate. rest were below avarage. I can allready see that Chivu's time has passed as well deki and its not from this match i am talking about all season long how much have deki done to us, compare what he was before he lost his touch( Stamina).

I know some people are after Ranno, but as we have talked so much about this season, and told that this is lost(season), so why not give chance to the young players, if we gonna build a future with them.

Now i am most sure when we get Alvarez back and Snejder even if its just last 3 games we will see much better inter.

Final thing i am not sure that inter will make 3rd spot now so the only thing is to use the young players insted of old guard. Use Obi insted Forlan use poli insted Deki use Guarin and Cambiaso as pure DM. to try and see how it goes.
