Might be an odd way of looking at it but with Ranocchia apparently leaving, I consider Perisic staying to be even more important. We should have several high level veterans and team leaders in the squad at all times.

For me, at least one of Ranocchia and D'Ambrosio need to stay. Maybe with Skriniar proving he can play equally well in the centre of the back 3, D'Ambrosio will be extended and given more opportunity as the right-sided CB. Admittedly there hasn't been any reports as such yet. Ranocchia ticks the boxes in terms of being a positive influence and a popular, long-serving team member, but he's not good enough on the pitch.

Handanovic staying is a necessity given his status as captain and that apparently Radu is shit. While there's a bit of a headache with regards to having enough club-trained players for our CL list, the bigger issue is that Onana is an absolute clownfest. Having a backup like Handanovic will be important.

Who else do we have? Vidal and Sanchez haven't been here long enough and Kolarov is a joke. I don't include Brozovic, 1) because he's already renewed. 2) because of his age and 3) the fact that he only plays football to pay for his crypto and NFT interests. That leaves Perisic as the only other out-of-contract veteran to speak of.

Perisic is an interesting case. He doesn't seem to bleed black and blue like a Cambiasso or Materazzi, but he seems so steadfastly committed in his own quietly professional way. The impression I get from Perisic isn't so much, "I give 100% because love this club", it's "I give 100% because I'm a fucking uber-professional." (That's not to say he doesn't have any love for the club though)

Having someone like Perisic is important. Beyond his insane work-rate, professionalism and lead-by-example nature on the pitch, he's extremely intelligent tactically, and off the pitch, he's also helping new guys like Dumfries settle in. It's clear he's a respected player. Most importantly though, he's still just a really fucking good player.

All that said though, €5m is a bit much. Hopefully we can get the deal done for something in the region of 3.5/4m + bonuses etc.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Inter hope to extend with Ivan Perisic, but have already targeted Andrea Cambiaso and Federico Bernardeschi if the Croatia international leaves.

It`s not the 1st time we`re being linked to Andrea Cambiaso. His contract expires in 2023.

PS: keep Bernardeschi the fuck away! He is useless.
I almost reported this post. Get the F*ck outta here with Bernardeschi.

Just give the guy new contract, it's still a good deal considering how much money we wasted on Vidal and Alexis wages just to be on the bench most of the time or injured..

The Croatia international provided the assists for both goals at San Siro to beat Verona 2-0, setting up Nicolò Barella and Edin Dzeko:

CdS so this doesn't mean anything, but I'd be shocked if Marotta isn't at least interested in Bernardeschi. It's just his thing.

Haha he is going to get the money he wants even tho I don’t know any remotely good team that can afford his wages actually needing him. Tho would be funny if Milan trolls us by getting him

Best player this season and it would be a shame if we didn’t keep him independent of Gosens. Also his athleticism and his commitment to sports (playing beach volleyball) are a guarantee in regards to his longevity.
