Current Roster players transfer value based on Transfermarkt in millions.
Lautaro-77
Barella-77
Bastoni-66
Skriniar-71.5
Hakan-38.5
De Vrij-38.5
Dumfries-22
Dimarco-17.6
Gags-11
Darmian-7.7
Dzeko-4.4
Radu-4.4
Sanchez-3.85

So between deadwood, loaned players and current players to achieve 70m net reduction with replacements and new contracts.....fascinating outcomes on tap.

This mercato we need to do the following:
  • reduce the wage bill by 15%
  • raise about €60m in sales
  • cut or sell a whole load of trash
  • replace outgoing players
I can not overstate how much fucking work there is to do. All I know is that I do not want us to take the easy* way out by selling a Lautaro or Barella etc.

We MUST sell de Vrij. Sell every single one these young players, preferably in inflated plusvalenza deals and with buy-backs or first options where possible. Flog all these fuckers out on loan like Sensi and Dalbert. Sell Correa, Calhanoglu or even Dumfries if required.

*I'm fully aware that you can't sell if no one's buying but this is where the likes Marotta and co. need to show their worth with some ingenuity. Any idiot can sell Lautaro for decent money. While that might go a long way to helping our financial issues, it screws us on the pitch. Selling de Vrij by comparison, does not, because he's been a disgrace this season anyway.

Basically we need to do our utmost to monetize or at least cut costs on every single player who is considered non-essential before even thinking about selling a core player. I'm going to lose my shit if I see Lautaro sold while the likes of Dalbert are still fucking around on our books next season.

Yeah, that's why I looked up all those figures with an assist from @varmin , so individuals can see what needs to happen. Want Scamacca? Ok. what will a trade do to offset and where's the rest of the money coming from. Bidding war for Bremer right. With what? Sell De Vrij, fine. Then whose the backup.

Like you said, Inter have to be clever and prioritize their strategy and not go for the easy fix sell Lautaro and Bastoni to make ends meet and fill the holes.

I don’t disagree with the strategy but I think we need to be realistic when it comes to selling players. I’m not really sure what we should expect Marotta to do in order to entice clubs, run commercials? Send flyers?

Most clubs aren’t stupid and they employ their own Marotta or Ausilio. Every once in a while you might get lucky like Juve did with a desperate Tottenham or you might have a situation like we did with Chelsea and Lukaku. However, moving these dead weight players on is one of the most difficult things in this sport where guaranteed contracts are the norm.

Let’s hope De Vrij and the loanees are enough.

It's frustrating when you see other clubs sell their trash for reasonable sums. Milan managed to get good money for the likes of Plaqueta and Kalinic. You already cited Juventus, who also have the added benefit of routinely using funny accounting with the Italian clubs. The list goes on. Why are we the only club who is constantly giving golden handshakes to its trash? Why do we get stuck loaning out these players for years?

I do think by the start of the 2023 fiscal year our books will look a lot cleaner, especially if we golden handshake Alexis, Vidal (still unsure if he has a year left or not), and Dalbert. With Vecino leaving, there will really be no more bad contracts left besides Dzeko and Valentino Lazaro.

To which, my greater point is twofold. One, Suning needs to adequately replace the aforementioned players with players of superior quality or else we're going back to being a club that fights for fourth every year. And two, Suning can't realistically hope to make this club and financially cleaner on the player side. They haven't invested meaningful net money in the transfer market in almost three years. Paying bloated wages to aging stars will be done. If they can't run a profitable club at that point, they need to properly fuck off.

honestly, the explanation is quite simple

Milan offloaded, e.g. piatek and paquenta pretty quickly when they came to the decision, and (IIRC) took some depreciation in the process. We overpay for players, and cant afford the depreciation, so we're keeping players longer than we wanted just to help reduce their book value

Look at Dalbert, Lazaro, etc, as prime examples of that.

For the sake of trying to keep a little bit healthier financially, we massively penalise ourselves from a sporting perspective/long term financial perspective.

This is why finances are at the heart of everything, and even when we get new owners, it'll be like 2-3 seasons of sorting out the books to get back to being healthy - which is hard while we need to remain competitive the entire time too.

One thing we should stop doing is do these stupid deals. Dalbert, Lazaro etc. But no, we just did another one with Correa. He's not as bad obviously, but his transfer fee was so high that his amortization cost annually is relatively big. And that might not be worth the output he's giving us on the pitch when factoring the 3.5m€ net salary to that.

I don't think other clubs are getting their trash sold for reasonable sums. Piatek and Paquete were and are better players than Dalberto and Lazaro. But like mentioned above, we need to stop acquiring poor players. Correa is not one, but he might become issue for us if his stats are this poor.

Realistically we aren't targeting Scudetto next season if the parameters in the media (which Universe listed) are somewhat close to the truth.

Sadly you are right if those target numbers are true. We are doomed maybe in the next or the year after that. With the recent owners we need miracle transfers to keep us at the scudetto contender level. But I totally see us sell Lautaro and De Vrij to replace them with Dybala and Bremer. And that would be our whole summer mercato

Being competitive and fighting for the Scudetto next season is not that far off for us, considering our direct rivals are not far ahead of us either.

By getting rid of Alexis, Vidal, Vecino, Sensi, Kolarov, De Vrij, Ranocchia, Caicedo, Lazaro, Dalbert and Pinamonti and bringing the likes of Dybala and Bremer we will improve our attack and defence and then we can focus on cheap/loan/free options for more depth and quality, specially for midfield.

I think our lack of depth truly hurt us this season and we need to address that issue for the next season.

We do need some smart transfer business this summer. In addition to the names you already mentioned i would add Dzeko and Dumfries. Dzeko is done and Dumfries would add some money to our transfer budget. We can sign Singo for 10/15 million and it won't make us weaker. I hope we try for Kamara for free, to loan De Paul and buy Frattesi. Sign Scammaca as a Dzeko replacement. If we add; Onana, Bremer, Singo, Kamara, De Paul, Frattesi, Dybala and Scammaca our depth wil be much better. 3 of them wil come for free, Singo will be cheap, De Paul on loan and with Bremer, Frattesi and Scammaca we can insert our players or maybe some loan with obligation deal.

I think that's way too easier said than done. "sign Kamara for free, loan De Paul, buy Frattesi, sign Scamacca, get rid of Dzeko".

Im pretty sure we can’t afford those players without sacrificing 3 key players from the squad

True. For Kamara there will be a lot of competition i fear, don’t know if De Paul can be loaned, but i think we can het Frattesi on some loan deal with obligation. I just wrote some James we were linked too. And if we push Dzeko out, he will be gone. Will cost us some tho.

Bottom line is; i think we do need someone who can challenge Hakan and Barella (in the above case De Paul), some young player who we can rotate with (Frattesi) and a Brozo backup (some cheap option, just in case). I do think also we need to get rid of Dzeko and his immense salary. And as it seems we have Dybala and Correa here next season, we need someone (preferbly young) who can stay fit. I'm not a huge fan of Scammaca but he is young and maybe he can develop into a great striker.

With the sales of De Vrij (20), Pinamonti (25), Gravillon (4), Esposito (9), Dumfries (35), Satriano (10), Agoume (10) we already have 113 million. And those players will not be too hard to sell i can imagine.

Next season's squad costs simulation

TL;DR
- We need new DM, CM, CB and CF.
- Skriniar's new contract.
- Home-grown players are needed.

Breakdown;
Handanovic. Let's just assume he accepts that new contract with a lower wage.
Onana. Some of you might think he costs much, actually, he's "just" costing us 3.9m per season.
Cordaz. We are in dire need of home-grown players, and with Radu's leaving, we might desperately extend him.

Bastoni. Not going anywhere unless crazy offers come in.
Di Marco. A rare useful Home-grown. Definitely stay.
De Vrij. Still on the list as the replacement would likely stay in line with his costs. e.g. Bremer would cost us 10.5m.
New backup CB. I'd like Ranocchia to stay but he could be a starter for lower and mid-table teams. We might target a cheap backup.
Skriniar. His contract renewal should be a priority, not only to help us to spread the amortization but to keep our key player.
D'ambrosio. His professionalism and versatility deserve a new contract.

Perisic. Deserve the new contract.
Gosens. Quality "backup".
Dumfries. Depends on how much the offer.
Darmian. I'm happy I was wrong about him, hopefully, he'll keep performing.

New DM and CM. This would be our priority for the transfer window.
Brozovic, Barella, Calhanoglu. Key players. Should be retained to keep the continuity.
Gagliardini. On his last year's contract, selling him has been a daunting task. Since we are short in numbers for the central area, it won't be surprising if he stays.

Correa. Our top costing player. Currently not in sync with his contribution this season.
Sanchez. Might be replaced by Dybala but his termination won't be cheap either.
Dzeko. Many of us would like to see him go, but I don't think Inzaghi shares the same idea.
Lautaro. If we manage to offload unused and players out on loan at a decent fee, Lautaro might stay.

3s6oHIf.png

Some players are out of contract. If we manage to offload some of these players at a decent fee, it could save us €72m next season.
Regarding the transfer fee, it won't be easy. Although if we are able to get some capital gain for Pinamonti, the rest of the players are most likely to record capital loss. It remains to be seen if the objective is to get a €70m transfer net. Some of these players will be on loan with an option to buy that never gets triggered and will repeat until their contract run out.

IaF4UN0.png

Actually, we are doing okay. Our amortization cost has decreased immensely as some players' values are now fully amortized.
Our annual cost also decreases, this is equivalent and it can also be seen quite clearly that the quality of the players has decreased slightly compared to the previous season.

Does this put us in line of the parameters expected (e.g. 20% wage reduction, +70m plusvalenza)?

Great work as always, @pier

Selling Pinamonti, de Vrij, and Sensi for capital gains is Marotta's most important task this summer to "correct" the budget that Suning has imposed. No reason we should walk away with less than net gains of 40M from them.

I wouldn't call Paqueta trash. He's killing it in France and so far it looks like a mistake from Milan.
Imagine they had him instead of Brahmin Diaz this season. Obviously it doesn’t quite work that way as I’m sure his sale freed up funds for other signings.

I think Onana is at 3.5m net but we'll wait and see. Both 3 and 3.5 have been reported.

From your last image, I think we'll be trying to find new places for Correa and Dzeko, but possibly to no avail. And De Vrij is very likely to be sold even if the player doesn't want to.

Offers for Hakan, Dumfries and Gagliardini will definitely be listened to and we may sell if it's intriguing enough.

Still have 3 finals to play, so I don't think anyone currently focuses much on the mercato within the club.
