The complimentary comments on this thread seem to have shrunk, probably because we're 'used to' having this high-quality content on a regular basis now.

I know you're not doing it for the kudos, but kudos from me nonetheless. It's something I look forward to every week.

Thanks!

And everyone using Spotify, don't forget to answer the poll. There's also the feedback question in Spotify.

We haven't commented on the replies to the polls since there's been only few to every poll (less than 10) but we could address them if there were more.

Nice episode, agree with the MOTM discussion, but I think the entire team deserves the MOTM honours. Roma will be tough, and not to be taken lightly, same lineup as against Juve, save for Dumfries over Darmian.

I decided to check out a Juve podcast (pre & post derby) and it was glorious.

They were so confident they were going to win it and afterwards one was trying to blame the ref for the result saying “If Vlahovic hadn’t been booked, we couldn’t have pressured them more and won the game”

At least the other host was grounded in reality by admitting Inter are far superior, especially in the midfield. He was happy to admit that none of their midfielders come close to our starting trio.

Excellent review on the Roma match. I think though, Roma's bum rush tactics did eventually cause them to fatigue. As for the Salernitana match, start Lautaro and Arnautovic, start Dumfries and Bisseck. If you are jonesing for The Klaassen to start, so be it.

I noticed the same thing about corners. Most of our goals come from 'clearances' or a header assist to another header. I feel we were much more dangerous in Inzaghi's first season. Hakan's corners were great and lots of our goals that season were headers from set pieces - I feel Perisic helped a lot in that. Skriniar had a few as well.

With our current CBs (Pavard-Acerbi-Bastoni), I never get the idea they are a big threat from set pieces even though Acerbi has scored two goals.

We also had the Dimarco wondergoal against Empoli which I believe counts as a set piece goal, but it was a world-class volley off a clearance.

De Vrij used to be dangerous in these situations but not as much in recent years. I remember the season before he joined us, he scored 6 league goals for Lazio.

My thoughts precisely.

What about the 18 corners vs Salernitana? They didn't appear to be really effective result in a lot of challenges towards goal imho.

Great episode to wake up to. I wouldn’t worry about condensing the episodes to an hour, 90mins works well.

Regarding corners, it doesn’t help that we have zero heading threat coming from the midfield and no towering strikers to boast of. Gone are the days when we could overload the box with Vecino and Gagliardini, and sub on Ranocchia as a striker for good measure.

Enjoyed that discussion about the economic/financial stuff at the end. As I said previously, Milan ended up making more revenue than us last year entirely because their commercial revenue trumped us. We made more from ticket sales, we made more from prize money through television deals and all that stuff (it didn't help us that Milan had a deep UCL run too), but commercial revenue was entirely in their favor. I realize we might never be as popular as our cousins, but that doesn't mean we don't try to bridge the gap to the best of our ability. There's never a bad time to try and grow the brand and the process of trying to grow the brand never stops.

It bothers the piss out of me that Milan's financial health is so much better than ours. They sold Tonali and ended up better off for it; they did the "four €20M players for one €80M player" thing that almost every team in that situation gets wrong. You guys talked about wasting €8M on Arnautovic, but we wasted 4x as much on Correa and then kept doubling down for two years because damn the sunk cost fallacy, we had to try and make it work with him until the point finally came where even Correa's biggest fan couldn't help but say "this guy is utter dogshit". The summer we sold Hakimi and Lukaku and that was the "big money" replacement...fuck me.

Great episode, with a downer ending with the talk on the financials. Like the comments about Buchanan, but even to put him behind Cuntrado in the pecking order on the right is just wrong. Expect Atletico match to be brutal, hope to survive with no injuries. Atletico is the definition of " nasty" which is alright agaiinst Real, Barca, P$G etc. Worrisome for Inter, have win the match by a 2 goal margin imho, cause they'll be even more physically demonstrative at home. Survive relatively uninjured from Atletico, the Lecce away will be a slog, 0-1 sounds about right from a corner no less ;).
