Sad news for Chevanton. He suffered from ligament damage and he will be out for several months.

I'm sad for him, his new adventure with Monaco started so well... :depress:

It's a shame as Kallon-Chevanton seemed to be going well! :!:

It's not as bad as they thought initially. He won't need an operation and he'll be out from 6 to 8 weeks.

Monaco is surely over-loaded with forwards.

Adebayor
Chevanton
Kallon
Nonda
Saviola

Well, I think Nonda and Chevanton are out so it's Kallon's chance to shine alongside Saviola. I wouldn't be happy at all, if I was a Monaco fan, by the signing of Saviola though. Completely unnecessary. It's like us signing Cambiasso. They haven't replaced Giuly and Rothen yet!

Unnecessary? You said it yourself: Chevanton and Nonda are out...

Adebayor
Kallon

You think this is enough for them? Two strikers??? Not even one on the bench then? You don´t think Saviola is even good enough for Monaco´s bench?

How often does both of the 2 strikers get injured? And besides, last season, DD used the 4-4-1-1 formation a lot with just one striker. Monaco is a club facing a financial crisis and they cannot afford to have the luxury of having 4 top class forwards and a backup.

Whether they play with 1 or 2 strikers doesn´t matter to me. They need more than two strikers or they are screwed big time. If they don´t take talents up what the hell are they gonna do if one of Kallon/Adebayor gets unavailable to the coach? Put the remaining one in the lineup of course, then do what if he gets tired? Put in a midfielder?

The economical part of this is a good point. But they can still have talents from their youth sector then.

;)

That, coming from a person who wants to have 3 players in each position. So hey, I'm not gonna argue with ya since we have proven in the past that our views on football differ radically. :)

This is of course sad news for Chev but great for Saviola. I would be gutted if he ended up on the bench at Monaco and Kallon for that matter, so I hope this gives them a chance to form a partnership for the rest of the season.

Deschamps won't have the luxury of having such a versatile player like Guily anymore, who I think will be the most missed player from Monaco's departures this summer. Losing Rothen who's an absolute force on the left and a goleador like Morientes doesn't help either.

I can see Saviola having a Morientes type season, he's always been able to prove himself and brush away his critics.

When did Saviola join Monaco? It seems that I have been very busy lately. :D

So, Monaco might play Kallon -- Saviola, or would it be Nonda.

Saviola joined Monaco this summer, I forgot the exact date. I think the first choice pairing of Monaco is Chevanton and Nonda. The former has shown great potential ever since joining Monaco and was spectacular in his Lecce days. Nonda may have been plagued by injuries but when he was given the burden of being Trezeguet's replacement, he responded magnificently by becoming the league's top scorer in 02/03.

Yup, the poor little guy never fails to play his best both for Barca and Argentina yet he's always treated like utter crap.

The latest example is not being called up for Argentina's WCQ match versus Peru. He took his time to play in the Olympics and risked his spot in Barcelona and that's how Bielsha re-pays him. That ungrateful bastard!

Chevanton/Kallon/Saviola are IMHO better strikers than Nonda! :)
