Just saw some stats on Reddit:

• Tied 3rd most assists in the league
• 2nd highest goal-creating actions in the league
• 13th most tackles + interceptions in the league

I’m honestly surprised at the first two, but his defensive game has been completely flawless. An absolute menace against Juve too.

This stat is especially impressive given how much possession we enjoy. Our style of play isn’t exactly conducive to racking up defensive stats.

His goal scoring has really suffered, but Marotta and Inzaghi deserves endless praise for identifying Miki as a potential CM and adapting him into one.

Shoot I double checked a few sites, and it shows 7 Seri A assists for Thuram. I guess, I did not credit him with one assist. I will correct it now.

Not his best match. He looked a step slow a couple of times. I think we should have rested him against Salernitana personally.

Indeed he looked quite clumsy tonight. Hakan made plenty mistakes as well, but he was kinda sharper than Mkhi. Salernitana match felt like a training session, we won it effortlessly. Could be just a day off. I'm not too worried tbh, he's shown that he's able to comeback shortly after a sluggish performance.

Both were off their game, but I thought Hakan was worse. Miki at least pulled it together in possession after 30mins and still had a lot of defensive contributions.

Hakan looked out of position defensively the whole match and was making unforced errors till the end.

We’ll need both to be at their best in the second leg, especially Hakan.

Yeah, too many unforced errors with the ball (like Hakan). Uncharacteristically poor game (in his standards) by him. Good he didn't pick up the yellow, we need him in Madrid.

i ma surprised Inzaghi even subbed him first. He and Calhanoglu were pretty shit in the last 1/3. Horrible passing. This can't happen in Madrid.

Don't have one.
I think part of the reason why him and calha made so many mistakes last night is the fact atletico played really strict and disciplined man marking, which we almost never experience in seria a. I would imagine spaces and passes that are more than ok in the league suddenly become not good enough against a really well drilled team like atletico, and it's probably a nightmare for a player to adjust to.

Also, I would bet my house simeone told his players to put extra pressure on hakan and mhki specifically coz that's where majority of our automatisms in a way we play comes from. I see barella more as a freehand character assigned for improvisations and calha and mkhi for keeping a flow going and that's where we struggled especially in the first half.

Hopefully in madrid we will properly adjust, coz I was really surprised by the amount of mistakes both of them made.

Not really vex.

They did too many unforced errors; always an extra step, a misplaced pass, etc.

Also they were off most of the game. Which is nothing like them - but shit happens.

Part of me thinks it's a psychological thing in clutch matches, and part of me thinks I'm overreacting and it's just one game, that can happen to anyone.

But while at it, Fratessi was unfazed by Atletico last night, and given the way Atletico plays, I'd rather watch Fratessi from the start when we play the next game against them.

Also Barella has an edge psychologically over Hakan and Mkhi, I don't think it has anything to do with him being a "freehand" (which I disagree to begin with).

You can not bully Barella. There's no player that can bully him atm. Same goes for Bastoni, Lautaro, Pavard and when Fratessi entered I got the same vibe.

It was just one game though... We might be beating a dead horse here lol, it's just one game. Next one Calha can create two chances and score a banger, so yeah...

I think it was fine starting our top starting XI. Frattesi is better off the bench when we have the game in our hand. And when he came in, it was in our hand, we were looking for a goal, Atletico was sitting more deep. Frattesi fits to that perfectly, he doesn't need to build too much, just go to the box, create havoc there.

I'm still starting Mkhitaryan in any top match.
