Our new adventure in the Champions League starts next week. I was thinking about it, and I realised how much would it mean to Mancini to win this competition.

As a player, he went so close to win it with Sampdoria in 1992, against mighty Barcelona, at the glorious Wembley Stadium.

Some information about that game:

Champions League 1992 Final

FC BARCELONA - UC SAMPDORIA
20.05.1992 (19.15) London, Wembley Stadium
Refree: Aron Schmidhuber GER

Barcelona: Zubizarreta (c) - Nando. R. Koeman, Ferrer, Júan Carlos - Bakero,
M. Laudrup, Guardiola (113 Alexanco) - Ensebio, Julio Salinas (65
Goicoetxea), Stoichkov
Coach: Hendrik (Johan) Cruyff HOL

Sampdoria: Pagliuca - Mannini, Lanna, Vierchowod, Pari - Lombardo, Cerezo,
Katanec, I. Bonetti (74 Invernizzi) - Vialli (101 Buso), Mancini (c)
Coach: Vujadin Boąkov JUG

1 - 0 Koeman 112' (free-kick)

Booked: Bakero / Mannini, Vierchowod, Mancini

Topscorers: 7 - Yuran (Benfica), Papin (OM), 6 - Nilis (Anderlecht),
Pančev (Crvena), Vialli (Sampdoria), 4 - César Brito (Benfica), Lombardo
(Sampdoria), Mancini (Sampdoria), S. Mihajlović (Crvena), Stoichkov
(Barcelona)

Barcelona made it third time lucky as they won the European Cup, with Ronald Koeman scoring the only goal against Sampdoria at Wembley with a powerful free-kick. In their previous two appearances in the final, the Spanish side had lost to Benfica in 1961 and Steaua Bucharest in 1986.

Gosh Mancini was the captain of that Sampdoria side! He really went close to a wonderful achievement. :proud:

Nowadays Ronald Koeman is Ajax coach, just think at a possible Inter v Ajax final!!!

I hope you can do it with us Mancio! :star:

It would be great to see but maybe this year he will just use the Champions League for experience where every round further in he goes is a bonus. So for the 2005/2006 season he will launch his full attack! :fero: :D

Great thoughts Frisko , However Im very optimistic guys that Mancio will return back il Grande Inter because like it or not , Inter is a Big Club and will always be a Big Club regardless of the bumps upon the road that Inter go through as this is a fact of life . Mancio is the right man at the right time with the right players and the right great fans = 14th Scudetto or the CL

I think with the depth that the team has that it can do well in not only the Serie A but abroad as well. I would love to see us win the CL, but I would be satisfied with the Scudetto. Anything else added to that would be like extra frosting on a cake. :star:

It would be nice to see Inter win the CL,especially because the English commentators don't seem to like Italian clubs and notably - Inter!

You know I really have a good feeling about this season. I truly think we will finally win something and that something could just be the CL. It seems all the players are totally together and I think this will be the season where everything goes right. No more depressing Mondays cursing our poor performances.

Adriano and Vieri will play so well together that you will think they had been doing it for years, Recoba will finally fulfill his potential, Martins will do many somersaults, Veron will return to be the player of old, our defence will be like a brick wall, Zanetti will lift the trophy and Mihajlovic will be at home where he belongs.

If we don’t win the CL then I think we just may win the league  I have no idea where this optimism has come from but it is a good feeling :)

I'm also feeling optimistict and full of hope for the season. I think Inter can win atleast the Scudetto and perhaps the CL as well. Our reserves should be able to win the Coppa so we are covered there :p
