we have too many attackers Pinamonti (end contract 2024), Mulattieri (end contract 2023), Salcedo (end contract???), and Esposito (End contract 2025). Bonus Satriano (end contract 2024), Colidio (end contract 2023). What should Marotta co do with those attackers?

Sell satriano and colidio
Sell pinamonti
Esposito and mulatierri on development loans. Next year is critical for them.
Salcedo on development loan as well

Salcedo should definitely be on the sell list. In his 3 loan spells he hasn't showed anything. Just like with Pellegri, he's all hype from his primavera years.

Tbh with these kids I would rather we were overly harsh rather than overly generous. It's better for their careers too to find professional long term clubs at whatever their level is and develop.

Imho you need to get loaned to Serie B aged 18, have a rotation role, 19 you're a regular starter or A level rotation, 20 you're a regular starter of note in A. You get to be behind schedule by 1 year but if you're off any more than that you get sold or released.

It's harsh but for like 90% of players that the track they follow.

I like that lately we’ve at least began loaning outside Serie A. Italy is just a horrible place for most young talent.

We need to do what happens in Spain and have a b team in the second division. That way we know these young players are getting good solid game time

Look at Juve u23. They're mid table Serie C A. The average level of these guys isn't good enough sadly. This is why loans probably does work better for now tbh

I'm curious what players you guys expect to leave during the Winter window, if any. Eriksen, Vecino, and Sanchez are all being whispered about.

Perhaps Vecino. He is last in Inzaghi's pecking order, even behind Sensi, and he barely plays. He isn't satisfied with playing time and he has made it public. He will probably try to leave Inter in January.

I can't see anyone else leaving. It looks like Vidal and Sanchez will finish the season at Inter and i doubt we will have any news about Eriksen soon. Inter have no reason to rush into a decision for him as long as insurance pays his salary.

We will mostly plan for the summer in January.

Updates from Romano:

- Brozovic extension is very close. Perisic is waiting for Inter's proposal. He isn't interested in a return to Bundesliga.
- Vidal and Vecino will leave at the end of the season as Inter won't extend their contracts. The future of Sensi and Gagliardini is uncertain
- At the moment Inter targets for the summer are Frattesi and Bremer.

I'm confused on Vidal. Does he have a three year contract or not?

I think the only suggestion is 2 years.

The extension was rumored but it never happened. He’s a free agent at the end of the season.

Yeah I think the reports might have been too hasty few weeks back then the 3 year contract was reported as "there is no option, it's 3 year contrac". I guess, if Romano reports it like that?

I think there has to be at least at some extent a mutual agreement over the option to trigger it, perhaps? Fact is Vidal won't play for Inter next summer, we either let him go with the buyout or there is no one-sided trigger on player's side.

If Inter can find someone who can pay good money for Vecino this winter, he is as good as gone. And I don't think anyone at FIF will shed a tear.

Sanchez, Eriksen and Vidal are also gone as soon as Inter can get rid of them - I guess that has more to do with wage bill and their fitness.

I am sure Kolarov and Ranocchia are also on the exit list for next summer.

If the above 4 are gone by next summer, Inter will replace some of them. My guess is that a young striker will replace Sanchez (Marotta likes Scamacca, though not sure if we will be able to afford him by next summer). And the 3 mids will probably be replaced by 1 young midfielder (Frattesi?). If the 2 CBs are also gone, they will probably be replaced by a loan returnee (Vanduesden?) and maybe Bremer.

Perisic & Brozovic are two players Inter will probably try hard to retain. If Perisic leaves, then surely he will be replaced. Ditto Brozo, tho I think we will struggle to replace him adequately hence his renewal is critical.

We will also probably get a GK sometime.

So by next summer, I expect something like:

OUT: Sanchez, Eriksen, Vidal, Vecino, Kolarov, Ranocchia, Perisic
IN: Scamacca/Belotti, Frattesi, Vanhuesden, Bremer/Ginter, Kostic, Onana

Some other free transfers we could potentially target (though unlikely):

CB: Felipe, Romagnoli, Christensen, Denayer
Mid: Freuler, Kessie, Zakaria, Lingard, Tolisso, Isco, Corona
Str: Lacazette, Azmoun, Insigne

Great post. I agree with most of the things you say. I only have few objections:

- So far it seems in attack we are more focused on the Alvarez kid from River than Scamacca. There are lots of reports about him and even Marotta has confirmed we're interested. He would also be cheaper as he has a 20m release clause. With the season Scamacca is having Sassuolo will probably ask for a lot more. I haven't read any serious rumours about Belotti recently.
- I think Ranocchia has more chances of staying than D'Ambrosio. He is a good soldier who doesn't complain about playing time and he has a relatively low salary. On the other hand, D' Ambrosio has complained about playing time if reports are to be believed and he wasn't really satisfied with the terms of his new contract. In any case, my expectation in defence is one of the current backups will stay, we will bring back Vanheusden and we will sign Ginter or Luiz Felipe on a free. I believe Bremer will depend on De Vrij as Cairo is asking for around 25m.
- In midfield, Vidal and Vecino (and obviously Eriksen) will certainly be gone. Sensi could also leave, even on loan. Sensi barely plays even when he's "fit" so there's no point keeping him in the squad. I think we will sign two midfielders, a youngster with potential (e.g. Frattesi) and an experienced one at a low cost (free or loan). If Sensi is also gone we could keep Agoume in the squad as Brozovic backup.

Yeah good discussion.

As for Bremer I don't think he will end up costing 25m€. His contract runs out in 2023 summer.

Midfield will be very interesting next summer, lot's of outgoing players so we need to get new mids in too. Agoume has played as a starter 8/13 in Brest so far (his first game was Ligue 1 matchday 5), would be excellent if he was ready for Inter.
