Official: Fiorentina Sack Mondonico

Emiliano Monsonico is no longer the coach of ACF Fiorentina, the Tuscan club announced this morning.
“The club, with enormous surprise, has taken act of the comments made by Mondonico after yesterday’s game, comments that the club doesn’t agree with as his job was never on the line. Therefore Fiorentina have the obligation, for the importance of the project, the fans, the players, and the city, to take into account the personal problems outlined by Mondonico, and to end the job assigned to him. As a result of this decision, the first team guide is now handed to Sergio Buso,” said the statement.

At the end of yesterday’s game at Udinese that ended in a 2-2 draw, Mondonico had said.

“I am ready to leave, if the fans want me to.”

‘Mondo’ took over Fiorentina’s reigns midway through last season, and led the team back into the Serie A following a dramatic play-off with Perugia.

However the Viola’s performance this season has been disastrous to say the least, as the team have only won once in seven games played.

Alberto Zaccheroni is the main candidate for the vacant bench.

 suprising, anyway Go ZAC!!! i love this guy i hope he changes everything and gets them to Europe! lol they'll have to adjust to his 3-4-3 lol.

Terim Back To Fiorentina?

Fiorentina have begun their search for Mondonico’s replacement, and at the moment it appears they are trying to convince Cesare Prandelli to take over a part-time role at the club
However, Prandelli, who left Roma over the course of the summer in order to stay next to is sick wife, seems a difficult choice to land.

A slightly easier road could be the one leading to former Galatasaray coach Fatih Terim.

Terim is currently without a job, and he has always professed his love for Florence and Fiorentina, a team with which he did fantastic things in the late 1990's before joining AC Milan.

Terim's agent Matteo Roggi met with Fiorentina general manager Lucchesi to discuss the possible shock return.

"I manifested Terim's will to join Fiorentina, a team that has remained in his heart. Lucchesi told me that until Thursday no official decision will be taken. Terim is now in Istanbul again. Let's wait and see," said Roggi after the meeting.

Other options rumoured to be in Fiorentina’s eye are Gianluca Vialli, Alberto Malesani, and Alberto Zaccheroni.

Cuper didn´t just cancel his contract for nothing... He´s going back in business somewhere. And unless that somewhere is Mallorca it could only be Fiorentina...

I´m prediciting he will soon be unveiled as Fiorentina´s new coach. Even though Mallorca is very likely too.

Mondonico wasn't a proper candidate for a coaching position at Fiorentina with their high expectations. He was given some semi-star quality players expected to give Roma a run for their money for that 4th CL spot. Up to now, they do not look like a team but you could tell that the talent is out there but not set in place.

Cuper could do a good job, but it will obviously not be a pretty Fiorentina that some of their fans may dream of. :dielaugh:
