uh my god ..... I just saw the video where I finally got to realize who really started the fight. That assistant coach is an ass-hole !! What a loser. It's obviously bad to lose out on a play-off, but reacting like that ?? It's a big shame and pathetic. If I am not wrong, I thought I saw Emre beating some players as well. {Too bad I saw him, but all should be punished if found guilty} :fero:

shows turkey coach kicking out first. FACT.

that ****** assistant coach should be banded for life!
They are banned don't worry

As you all know I am turkish and I am really pissed off. We not only lost our cup hopes but also lost our dignity because of that ex-milan coach and his provocations

You guys probably don't know the whole aspects of the issue, so please let me tell you the whole incident

In switzerland our national anthem was disrespected and our players were treated bad.

However we, the fans declared that we won't do the same to them and prove the whole world that we are not just hoolingans

Unfortunately after the match Terim has provoked the players and the loser coach and some players who are mainly responcible of the defeat attacked them

Turkey should not be banned from the cup because these incidents happen all the time ( as you guys must be the bigest example :) ). But the people who are responcilbe must be punished for sure

I heard that the coach has been resigned and rumours are going around saying Terim will be banned for a long time

It's just sad, because some tried to hide their defeat over a whole nation... :(

edit: I once again remind you it was not the fans but some players and some coaches that caused the problem, every fan is pretty pissed of at them right now

I haven't really fully understand the whole incident but I've seen the footage. My opinion is, like Kemyst, a ban from the next World Cup will be ridiculously too harsh. This will be stereotyping the whole nation of Turkey as hooligans. We didn't want Interisti to be stereotyped as violent hooligans or racist when some idiots threw the flares during the last EuroDerby or when Zoro of Messina was racially insulted by some of our fans; hence, the same should be appied to Turkey.

Ban those players involved in the ruckus for a year or so, just like some Portuguese players were after over-protesting when they lost to France in Euro 2000, but to ban the whole nation for the next World Cup, it would be completely ridiculous.

Yous one question what did the swiss do besides booig the nationa anthem??
I mean i know this should not happen and it s disrespect fuel.
But the Turkish players were not treated disrespect fuel they did not get booed during match and even before match nothing happend to them becoz they were under police security the whole time they were in Switzerland. Why do i know this??? Becoz some swiss medias wanted to make interviews with the turkis players but the could not get to them.

On the turkish fans i dont say it were all of them but i just want to remember u that the turkish fans waited on the airport where the swiss arived and welcomed them with banners on wich was written u son odf bitches and will fuck u re mothers.
Anyway i still say it would be unfair to ban Turky i would Just ban The trainers and Player s like Emre, Alpay wich obviousley were involved in this whole thing!!

Fifa targets Emre over Turkey melee

'A total of 22 people were questioned as witnesses or testifiers'

Staff and agencies
Wednesday November 30, 2005

Newcastle midfielder Emre Belozoglu is one of five people who have had disciplinary proceedings opened against them by Fifa in the wake of violent scenes at the end of the Turkey's World Cup play-off against Switzerland.
World football's governing body has now completed the first round of its investigations into the violence at the match in Istanbul on November 16 and has announced proceedings against three players - Turkey's Emre and Alpay, as well as Switzerland's Benjamin Huggel - as well as former Turkey assistant manager Mehmet Ozdilek and Swiss physio Stephan Meyer, along with the Turkish FA.

The Swiss players were pelted with missiles at the final whistle and Huggel was pictured on television kicking a member of the Turkish coaching staff as he ran off. Later on, Swiss defender Stephane Grichting was taken to hospital after being kicked in the stomach in an apparent free-for-all in the tunnel.
Fifa conducted the first round of hearings in Zurich on Monday and Tuesday this week related to the main proceedings against the Turkish football association.

A statement read: "A total of 22 people were questioned as witnesses or testifiers, in some cases more than once, about the incidents. In addition, the persons involved in individual cases were called as defendants. The results of the investigation will determine whether additional individual proceedings are brought against those concerned or whether further hearings and more evidence are necessary."

Grichting was unable to attend the hearings for medical reasons and submitted his statement in writing, while Ozdilek has since resigned after television footage showed his involvement in the incident.

The Fifa disciplinary committee's decisions are not expected until early 2006.

I am sorry I couldn/t find enough time to comment earlier :)
Being disrespectful during the national anthem is one of the biggest insult that can be done (in my opinion)
Besides that the game was very tense, maybe you guys don't know aabout it but there was a lot of debate going on in the turkish national team. The replacement of Ersun Yanal with Fatih Terim brought many problems and debates.
During the game both teams were pretty harsh, I remember the kick to the face of Volkan. After the macth the swiss coach said our keeper was a clown ( if I am not wrong) etc.
It was not the anthem that provoked us, but really it doesn' matter a lot.
I am very sorry about missing a world cup where we could have a HUGE fan support, but things got in our way, that is what matters now.
I am glad that the people who caused this problem are getting punished for shaming both nations names.
I hope no further punishment on the both nations will be taken and this sad incident will be done with asap.
-respect-

This is also true, but few dickheads don't speak for a nation...

Anyway, the whole incident is really sad.
The Turkish Football Association should ban whoever must be banned.
I'm sure that the Turkish people must be hugely dissapointed by the players/team staff and for the number of fans that didn't behave.

A ban from the WC is a harsch decision, but if this happens, I wouldn't call it unfair.
It's a shame though because Turkey has potential.

We have enough stadium.
There are 6-7 big stadium in Turkey and i think they have enough conditions for playing football and World Cup.
Last year Champions League final match was in İstanbul Olimpiade Stadium.
This year Galatasaray will play Europan matches in there. But our real stadium is Ali Sami Yen called "Hell".Most of teams know hell.
If FIFA gives us world cup organization, we are going to success in it unfortunately.

It's very hard for Turkey to get accepted to organise big tournaments after what happened... It will take many years, unfortunately for you ;)
