Any relevant info on this guy? Someone who knows real shit about him???

I don't know the real shit, we will have to ask Bundesliga fans about the last 3-4 years. I saw him play a lot during the Viola days, he was a talented kid - a proper CM, Prandelli style - if I remember correctly, Prandelli those days used to playing without a DM, or with a false DM like Donadel. For his age, Kuzmanovic was impressive in that midfield which also included the likes Montolivo, Liverani, Gobbi, Jorgenson, etc. His work rate was good, he helped keep possession which was important for Prandelli's style, and he was decent in passing it around. What he lacked was an end product, composure in the final third, but then he was only 20-21 years old.

Stuttgart paid good money for him (Eur 10m I think), and here is where I don't know much as I don't watch bundesliga. I did see Stuttgart in the CL a few times, and Kuzmanovic looked like a much improved player who had developed that end product. I was chatting with some bundesliga fans yesterday, and they hold him in high regard - they seem to believe he can be a midfield director that we seek. But I doubt that, coz he is not the Motta kind of player we need, but he can do most of what Stankovic used to do for us. And its always good to have midfielders who can score every now and then.

He may not be that top midfielder we are looking for, I guess he is pretty much a plan B with Paulinho out. But 2m for Kuzmanovic is a steal, no doubts about that. This season he has had issues with his club, and has not been playing much, so there are concerns regarding his form/fitness. But we are still getting him on a bargain, which is good to hear. Let me put it this way, if we had tried to sign him 2 years ago, he would have costed about 12-15m!

If he can play at the level I saw him play for Stuttgart in the CL, then we all will be very pleased with this transfer in the end.

I did the google translate on the Stuttgart forum. Looks like he started well for them, but over the last few years he's become more and more inconsistant. Sounds like he has had a few weight issues as well.

I will ask again though. Does he take our non-EU spot?

I think he does actually. he is non-eu player and not playing in Serie A, even if he did it was long time ago and im not sure it counts.

And yeah, the same what others told me. He was great his first two seasons, decent last season too, but not as good as his first two. This year he has weight problems and problems with his coach.

Those weight issues really worry me. Ever since Adriano, weight issues always ring alarm bells!

Well, Guarin had weight issues before coming. He had 10 kilos extra last year, but worked hard to lose it, hope Kuzmanovic does the same.

I agree with all the points Bluenine made. I too had seen him in his Fio days, and the only reason why they had to sell him off was because Prandelli had left and he wasn't getting along all that well under new management. In fact, i would go one step further and add that even if Paulino had arrived, i would still have made an offer for this guy. 2 mil for a player like him is a great buy.

It's clear though what kind of midfield that Strama has in mind. He wants an athletic, powerful one but that doesn't mean he will compromise on creativity, he's just not looking for the Barca kind of midfield with smooth passing skills and finesse.

But we get one freed up by losing Coutinho, right? And we still have one which we haven't used this season?

No, it doesn't work that way. You have right to buy 2 non-eu players per season, no matter how much non-eu players you sell.

Pounds :D I think it was 7 million pound, or it was 8, not sure. I know it was around 10 the whole transfer.

So our other spot was taken by Pereira? Or did Coutinho take it when he came back from Espanyol?

Liverpool, Valencia and Marseilles were after him. He chose us, although they offered more money. :notbad:

It's obvious a lot of clubs would be after a player whose contract expires next June but not all clubs like to buy deadweight for the sake of it like we do.

I hope he turns out like to be a pleasant surprise for us.
