Is that based on this season? Because you keep repeating this, but I don't see how this is an argument if he isn't even part of that defense this season. Basically you're saying that the current coach didn't give him playing time since the moment he was fit in December and therefore he sucks. Well, I guess you rate Pardew or this new coach very highly then.

Just to be clear, I do think this guy is mediocre as hell. But you're a bit exaggerating. Like some others already said, give the guy a chance. It's not a bad deal considering our current fullbacks and their injuries, the price and the required games for obligation to buy.

No, my point is that Newcastle are fucking desperate for a good defense, and for defenders - I've been browsing their forums quite a lot the last day or two - and if you aren't even good enough to play for the 4th worst defense, what does that say about the player?

He was RB but there was obviously someone else occupying that position so he was used as LB. Probably still better than Nagatomo..

they dont seem to happy to see him go. this vendetta against santon on this forum is starting to become ridiculous tbh. give the kid a chance and then judge him. i for one am not afraid to admit that i havent seen him play in ages but back when he was with us he showed alot of potential.

he is still only 24 years old after all. he should be well rounded and simply better compared to the fodder that we currently have.

Well that's encouraging. Good luck to him, if we could have competence down both full-back flanks with him and D'Ambro that could go a long way to plugging our defensive leaks. I haven't watched him much recently(obviously...), so might as well side with optimism!
