I also don't buy JZ retired because Mazzarri didn't play him. He ain't Totti who bitches about not playing.
It wasn't a coincidence Javier Zanetti retired while Esteban Cambiasso, Diego Milito and Walter Samuel left the club at the same time. The fantastic 4 were forced their way to leave the team. I remember Ranocchia had the captain armband for few matches before JZ retired. I even put it as a signature here in FIF saying Inter Captain: 4+19=23.
It was clear to me, at least, that all 4 of them were offered to leave the club, Javier Zanetti decided to retire. He had the injury and he was going strong about making a comeback yet he retired that season.

You are mistaken. He retired at the end of the 2013-14 season.
Captains that season:
Cambiasso: 29
Samuel: 5
Zanetti: 5
Nagatomo: 1
Ranocchia: 1
Ranocchia was captain for 1 match and guess which one that was? Coppa Italia vs. Trapani lol
This was our starting lineup that match:
Carrizo; Ranocchia, Andreolli, J. Jesus; Wallace, Guarin, Mudingayi, Taider, Pereira; Kovacic, Belfodil.
No Zanetti, no Cambiasso, no Samuel, no Nagatomo. That is why Ranocchia was chosen.
zanetti retired at the right time, which means one minute before becoming pathetic. had he stayed one more year, it would have been sad.
They retired because they were old and over the hill. The fact that the management couldn't replace them doesn't mean they should have stayed, it means Inter are run by a bunch of incompetent idiots.
I am pretty sure there was a match when jz was subbed out and ranocchia took the armband.
If fucking only, they can have him for free tbh...we shall have some laughs if trueHe's going to Milan on loan! Haha
