Spalletti: 'I didn't say anything bad'
By Football Italia staff

Inter Coach Luciano Spalletti did not deny the quotes attributed to him by the Corriere della Sera. “I don’t think I said anything in particular.”

Among the comments he told fans when meeting outside a restaurant were that Roma President James Pallotta “made it clear to me he’d sell the best players. I went beyond our means.

“Inter do not want to spend and the environment is always one step away from madness, like Roma.”

This evening, Spalletti spoke to reporters in the mixed zone after the Inter youth team eliminated Spartak Moscow from the UEFA Youth League.

“When fans stop me in the street, if they come to me with the right attitude, I stop and talk,” noted Spalletti.

“At times we talk about some issues. In this case, after that game, I found some Roma fans outside who were waiting for me, then others outside a restaurant. We took some photographs and talked.

“There were a lot of Romanisti around, so consequently I don’t think I said anything in particular. You’d have to be more specific and have the chance to evaluate words, because what I read quickly in the paper seems like the same topics we discuss in Press conferences too.

“If someone wants to discuss these in greater detail, we can talk about it. I don't think I said anything bad, but if there's the desire to attack me, the words can be made to look that way.

“It’s no secret that Suning have set some parameters on the transfer market, we’re not discovering this now. I said there was a ‘depressed atmosphere’ because there is the fear of falling back into past mistakes. I must find a way of lifting the team back up.”

That does sound like Inter. Also there are reports that Cancelo was dropped last weekend because of discipline issues in training. He does have an history of attitude issues... we are such a fucking mess of a club.

We need Spalletti to show some leadership here. Start dropping players from the squad if they show indiscipline or don't try hard enough. I don't care if its a Perisic or Icardi or Candreva or Cancelo. Tell the fuckers that the worst guy on the pitch will not be in the squad for a month. Make an example of a few, maybe the others will get the message. Its a World Cup year, lets use that to our benefit.

So Spalletti didn't deny what he said to the fans. And what he said was:

Yup, why am I not surprised. That does sound like Inter.

Yeah but you don't want that to bite Spalletti in the ass like it happened to De Boer when he dropped Brozovic and Kondogbia then the team boycotted him entirely.

Am I the only one thinking this was not the right time to say those words?

We are suffering as it is, there is no need to make it worse.

Spalletti needs to build a.less predictable gameplan. we should be attacking much more from the middle than fro the flanks, it isn't working anymore. And for the love of god, drop candreva already.

Unlike many of you, I don't think karamoh can be o much help, he's raw and we need results now. But hypothetically speaking, if it's either him or candreva, then karamoh it is...

Also, there is the psychological aspect. Spalletti must find a way to convince the players to give their best in the remaining matches.

My "recipe", as I have already explained, would be to say something along the lines of: "let's all give our best till the end of the season, for the champions league. Then everyone who wants to leave, will be able to do so if a good offer comes".

We needed very badly some help from the transfer session as it is also a physical problem, but given how shitty our contenders are, we can still make it.

As for the game plan, imho when nothing works you need to switch to 4 3 1 2, arguably the easiest gameplan.

His choice of words in the last 3-4 days is very poor. Kind of ruining his own image.

It's obvious to anyone how Inter plays. Every 2 minutes Candreva takes the ball and attempts a cross towards Icardi. This needs to change. The basic players need to be changed but our administration decided not to bring us any new wingers or attacking midfielders so for me there are not many things Spal can do with this roster.

Agreed. Dude is getting crazy, he was a good talker in the beginning of the season and have alwaus talked about teamwork and unity, now blame particular players and talk shit about them. Does he have a history of bipolar disorder?

I would love it if he uses this kind rhetoric towards Suning.

Grande Spallo! He is my spirit animal!
He even might walk away in the summer if the club keeps being retarded, and the players keep on sleeping till June...
Then we can have another coach...that should be fun right?!
However Keep on Candreva,Eder,Perisic,Brozo...and expect different results !

In my view, a coach saying what he wants or truly feels should be welcomed.

Is he lying about anything? Is it the case that Inter are anything but the way he has described them?

Let's be honest, between the Chinese Communist Party edict and FFP, Inter are on a fucked roundabout of mediocrity. The saddest part is that Interisti (myself included) expect results that will allow us to move forward as a club by qualifying for the Champions League but we do not have the playing personnel to attain this.

As a club, we are stuck. We are unable to bring in the necessary players to help us raise our game and we will have to sell our most accomplished just so we can survive and break even.

The results against SPAL and Crotone were nothing but embarrassing. I get up to watch Inter early in the mornings and also record their games but they do not deserve my loyalty and I am going to find something else to do because we are a sad and broken team that are simply horrible to watch.

How is not winning the two last games the owners fault. The players don’t deserve to be here. Our youth team or reserves should be Spal.

Buying Pastore or even Messi shouldn’t make that easier. It’s pathetic we tied these two teams

The players has lost confidence, and Spal need reinforcement, but our owner don't have money, so this is what happen.

Good thing, Spal is good coach, he never lost to any big team, but only lost two game because Santon and left back.

Any draw with small team is because our forward and midfield, if only we had much money.
I am sure Spal can finish 2nd-3rd below Juve or Napoli.

If Rafinha become Iniesta or Xavi in Inter , or at last like Thiago at Bayern, maybe we can still hope 3rd place .

:eek:blivious::eek:blivious::eek:blivious:

Only in Inter, 1 lost can become disaster, i don't know what our player think. :palm:

If you ask Romanisti about Spalletti, they will tell you when things don't go well Spalletti always look for excuses and he blames everyone but himself . His complaints about Suning and players may be justified but instead of playing the blame game he should be working on a solution.

If they can't build a team due to financial issues maybe it's time to start playing younger guys. Let them play together for a while and they will be a cohesive unit. Kind of like how Barcelona did and how the German National team has been doing for the past 15 years.

If you can't spend money start building within and that means playing guys like Pina and Vanhouse.

Its kinda ironic that peeps here have been complaining for years that the coach never speaks honestly, just keeps giving bullshit excuses. And now when a coach speaks the truth...

spalletti was a bit naive, when you feel like venting you need to do it with people you can trust, not the first idiots you meet at the restaurant.

that being said, no need to make this story bigger than it is.

I was thinking about something like this but on a bigger level. For example if we sold Icardi/Perisic and bought Martinez, Chiesa, Barrela, Cancelo and Torreira. Then we actually gave them a year to gel without expecting anything more than a 4th place finish. Could be an interesting core long term if we can keep them together.
