I was thinking about something like this but on a bigger level. For example if we sold Icardi/Perisic and bought Martinez, Chiesa, Barrela, Cancelo and Torreira. Then we actually gave them a year to gel without expecting anything more than a 4th place finish. Could be an interesting core long term if we can keep them together.

I imagine we'd be fucked by FFP though for the next couple years

Well, if you sell Icardi and Perisic for a combined 140 million, and unload some dead wood (Mario, Eder, Ranocchia) FFP is easy to get around. What our management is trying to avoid is making a big sale.

I've been saying for a while now that we need to just rip the band-aid off and start fresh if we miss the UCL.

We'd be fine for the first year when we have those assets to sell, im talking about the second or third year of this where they are still part of the FFP budget due to amortisation and we cant upgrade any of them

That would be fucking AWSOME actually. Nice.
I bet you, we would be much more competitive with those players, then we are at this moment.
Young, hungry, talented...good coach...

If Inter were to sell the likes of Icardi, Perisic, Candreva, Mario, Kondogbia and GabiCunt, I am not convinced that the club would make wise investments.

GabiCunt, Mario and Kondogbia have hardly been wise or inspired signings.

Based on recent signings, what makes you think that we will make sound decisions in relation to player purchases?

Knowing Inter, we would blow the money on shit players and give them five year contracts with exorbitant wages.

We have also bought skriniar. And Barbosa and joao Mario were the result of letting Kia joorabchan make our buys and he's out of the way.

Kondogbia and Candreva were Mancini' s requests and he's not here anymore, either (he also asked for perisic to be fair).

So I wouldn't be so pessimistic. We will have to sell though (probably icardi) as we can't count on Suning.

Its kinda ironic that peeps here have been complaining for years that the coach never speaks honestly, just keeps giving bullshit excuses. And now when a coach speaks the truth...

Wow that's the highest resolution gif I've seen.

As I said earlier, I do not mind a straight talking Spalletti. However, his comments regarding the social media storm and the fact that the squad had a good laugh at what was being reported in the media sounds like bullshit.

Given the way the team has been playing and despite what D'Ambrosio recently said about the squad being united, I think there is a problem and there are divisions between the players. I do not know what the issue(s) are but the drop in performance and effort is so pronounced that issues between the players seems likely. Afterall, players do not turn to shit and stop working for each other over night.

Given the environment around the club, I think someone needs to take Icardi aside and talk to him. There are acceptable standards of conduct and posting shit online that leads to rumours about his future at the club is not helpful to our cause.

If there are issues between Brozovic, Perisic and Icardi, as a result of the latter speaking out against them as Captain, then I do not have a problem with that. The way Perisic and Brozovic have recently been playing has been nothing short of disgraceful but Icardi needs to lead by example and he clearly is not doing that.

Regarding the alleged bustup between Spalletti and Cancelo, I do not blame the latter for not wanting to play out of position. Playing him on the left essentially neutralises his skills and abilities. Dalbert needs to play because Santon should not be selected.

I guess we will know where things stand against Bologna. I'm not very hopeful in the ability of the team to lift themselves out of the doldrums and play a positive game.

Spalletti: 'I must impose Inter rules'
By Football Italia staff

Luciano Spalletti explains Mauro Icardi’s absence against Bologna, the Joao Cancelo row and potential tactical changes for Inter.

They will again have to do without top scorer Icardi, who hasn’t fully recovered from a muscular problem and had already missed the 1-1 draw with Crotone.

“Unfortunately Mauro cannot take part. He tried to work with the team, but on sudden changes of movement, he feels pain,” explained the Coach in his Press conference.

“The medical staff’s tests suggest it is best to wait, because there is the strong risk he could really hurt himself again.”

Joao Cancelo was dropped to the bench last week, reportedly due to a training ground row over his tactical role.

“Cancelo is a player with quality, we’ve seen that when he is calm and ready to express himself, he can give us a hand. He doesn’t have to win me back, but I have to set some rules and make sure the players behave properly.

“I am not trying to create difficult relations, it’s just an issue of the team in general that has to improve the relations. Cancelo didn’t do anything that remarkable. I simply saw others in better shape and made these decisions. He trained well this week, I’ll decide my line-up.

“Antonio Candreva lowers his quality level every now and then, he needs enthusiasm. At the moment everyone has dropped their self-confidence and he is one of those most affected.

“We must try to have a more attacking attitude either with the same players or adding someone with different characteristics. Lately we have seen there are some opportunities and this week we worked differently in training too with different tactics. We have always worked on 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 because the indications take us in that direction.

“A three-man defence is a consequence of lowering one winger and pushing another up. We must show more strength and reach the penalty area in greater numbers. We haven’t been reaching the box much and doing it without quality on top of that.”

Rafinha is pushing for more playing time following his January transfer from Barcelona.

“He can give us more in terms of quality and does reflect Barcelona when he’s on the ball. He can increase his time on the field, but if he starts, then you have to replace him too, as he doesn’t have 90 minutes in his legs.

“In good moments, this team is a great group of guys, but if we want to compare it to a final, then being close by, understanding difficult moments and taking on responsibility is makes you a great player. This is happening in every training session, I can assure you.”

Spalletti blasts 'soundbite' article
By Football Italia staff

Luciano Spalletti bitterly criticised the media for their coverage of his comments to fans. “It was reduced to a few soundbites.”

The Corriere della Sera newspaper published a conversation the Inter Coach had with Roma supporters, in which he confessed they were much like Roma in the reticence to spend money.

“Great journalism is led by heart and truth. These are two elements I saw very little of in this piece,” said Spalletti in his Press conference.

“I want to clarify one thing that interests me. It is an article where too many things, almost all of them, aren’t fair. I don’t have to justify myself, because I have nothing to say with regards to what happened.

“I speak to everyone in a fair way, but what I do not appreciate is that the article highlighted my supposedly saying the club didn’t want to spend and Inter were on the verge of madness. That’s nothing to joke about.

“You can read into that the desire to hurt us, this controversy created on purpose to drive a wedge between me and the club. This is what I absolutely cannot accept.

“It was 20 days ago, but if I remember rightly we were talking about the clear difference between our current results and those at the start of the season. I can’t remember the precise words I used, but that was the basis for the discussion.

“We risk madness based on these results, but it was referring to us. We must bring out something more and then see. I chatted with those fans for an hour, but only five minutes of quotes emerged. Let’s see the other 55 minutes.”

Spalletti was also quoted as complaining Roma President James Pallotta told him the best players would be sold.

“I discussed the same thing with you in these Press conferences, the fact that clubs have certain rules and regulations to abide by, so we have to work within that ringfence.

“When I arrived at Roma, they sold a few players, and the year before they sold Miralem Pjanic. At the same time, I said that we must stay within certain parameters and cannot blame the President for that.

“I pointed out that Roma have one of the best midfields in Serie A. It seems to me as if someone wanted to concentrate what I said into a few soundbites.”

Spallettii is shooting himself in the foot by not starting Cancello but I doubt he realizes this.

Before a game he said that Rafinha doesn’t have 90 minutes in his legs and that is probably true.

But what about Borja? 30-35 minutes than hiding trough a half time, second half out. Almost costed us a goal.

The thing is if it is true and Rafinha doesn't have 90 minutes in him, if you play him you risk him getting injured again.

As for Valero, I don't understand what he brings to our team. He is as useless as they come.

Valero definitely helps to game flow better but he definitely losing it in last 30-40 minutes. Simply doesn't have endurance.

I still like spallo a lot and think he s a very good coach but he can go fuck himselfe with his retarded subs at times.
WTF was he thinking taking out karamoh who was our best player and still seemed very fit for gags in order to defend a 1 goal lead at home when we were one man more? Imho he put us at risk pf conceding with that move and we had less control over the game once that sub was made/ Also why did he take out karamoh when perisic had a bad game and obviously hurt his shoulder which caused him problems.

Also Karamoh kind of made him look like a fool today, spallo just one week ago said that he s not ready to start now he started and is amongst the best out there if not the best today.
Anyways i hope todays performance means Karamoh will see more playing time from now on we desperately need players like him who are fast and unpredictable.

he said in the presser that: 1. miranda has a sprain, in the coming days will be able to say for how long he will have to stay out; 2. karamoh felt a "hardening" of the muscle (my guess: either simple cramps or contracture); 3. he chose l. lopez over ranocchia because he needed someone faster, in order to "press" palacio.

Spalletti: 'Inter expectations too high'
By Football Italia staff

Luciano Spalletti felt “expectations were unduly raised” by Inter’s strong start to the season and had advice for Yann Karamoh and Marcelo Brozovic.

The Nerazzurri were without a victory in eight rounds and on the verge of setting a new negative club record when beating nine-man Bologna 2-1.

“Overcoming these moments is not easy. We started very strong this season with an incredible run of results, so expectations were unduly raised,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium after leapfrogging Lazio into third place.

“Today we did really well. We took the lead, there was an error for the equaliser and the ghosts of games past approached us again. We had a good second half, but didn’t make the most of the extra man and were a little too timid on the ball. Considering the situation, we were exceptional.”

Spalletti surprised everyone by dropping Antonio Candreva for Karamoh and the 19-year-old scored the winning goal.

“He did really well, he has this great pace and technique to shake things up. At other times, he takes a break and if the others pass it around well, we lose the balance of the team. He scored a wonderful goal.”

Brozovic was substituted and reacted to jeers from the crowd by sarcastically applauding the fans.

“When you ask us if we will punish players, it doesn’t work like that. Coach and club have to lay down clear and recognisable rules, so who doesn’t respect them effectively drops himself. That’s not because I am punishing him, but because the player doesn’t stay within the rules.

“From what I could see, he was applauding even those who jeered him, but I’ll go back and watch it again. I choose who is in the squad. Those who are out have done it all themselves.

“I tried to ask something different from the team this week, with Ivan Perisic on the left and that’ll be his role in future. It’s then about keeping a balance, but after a while we got out of shape, didn’t press their central defenders and the midfielders were too distant from the full-backs. We reshuffled and it went better.”
