Am I the only one willing to completely lay down?
We shouldn't even be discussing this as a match that absolutely needs to be won (or at the very minimum, drawn), since our point total should've been much, much higher - so high, that Lazio or Roma shouldn't be within reach. We should be sitting comfortably in third place.
Instead, we squandered that fantastic opportunity against the likes of Crotone, Spal, Sassuolo and Genoa. We're facing the likes of Napoli, Atalanta, Sampdoria and Torino (the latter three all away) soon. By now, it'll take a minor miracle to qualify for the Champions League, and it's all because of these worthless players and a coach who has proven to be not much better in a time of crisis.
Then, are we really going to partake in trying to pretty much hand the championship to Juventus?
Losing out on Champions League qualification will likely only cost us one of Icardi or Skriniar - a massive blow, that'll probably lead to us not being very competitive for the foreseeable future, but 'just' one player none the less. Taking points away from Napoli will likely lead to a seventh consecutive Scudetto to the vilest club in football, and our worst enemies. The way these fuckers have completely stumbled into referee-decisions (as always) and utterly undeserved victories (last weekend against Lazio was one of the most surreal things I've ever seen) is making me physically ill, and they don't even play well a lot of the time - not compared to Napoli, anyway. And yet they're on the road to being crowned champions yet again.
Seven consecutive Scudettos. A record that'll never be broken (6 is more than enough), and we're willing to risk that for what - 1 point? - so we're 'only' 3 points adrift of Lazio who face Cagliari next?
Nah.
I know laying down isn't the sort of things winners do, but we aren't winners anymore. Lazio weren't too proud to lay down for us 8 years ago. Because the bigger picture - Roma not winning a Scudetto - was more important to them.
I feel the same in this situation.
